WTH?, Musicians can't be decent cooks. lol

I love to cook. I often get praise for my cooking cause apparently 16 year olds dont really cook at all. :/

When i was 16 i was a culinary n00b. But now i am older, wiser, 17, and pro. ;)

Actually i think cooking is becoming a more wide spread / popular hobby because of the advent of TV cooking shows (namely Food Network).
Julia Child FTW

As for teenagers eating a lot. Thats perfectly true, for health class we kept track for a week, and i was averaging over 4000 calories a day. :bassist:

Great topic. I'm lucky enough to be married to a food scientist who is a major foodie so i always have good stuff to bring to practice. My drummer is in culinary school and has some major skills. Keyboard player and guitard are great at grilling/smoking. We also are all home brewers, keyboard player has a studio with 6 taps all filled with any beer drinkers desire plus what ever spoils the rest of us have to bring. Life is very good.

ME and my bass teacher in college both professed to being food/drink buffs. Something about creating a meal, pairing it with a good wine, and actually physically making the meal for people just appealed to us.

I was also in a band with a guy who was an executive chef at a restuarant. He had the best parties cause the food was always amazing.

Now my girlfriend on the other hand...When i'm home for dinner, i cook elaborate meals that i thought about in advance. When i'm gigging she tells me she eats mostly microwaved meals or snacks all night...

I used to be big on BBQing up until I quit eating meat.
Even still, I can cook some bomb vegetarian cuisine.
Just last week I had an audition to be on a major network cooking show, but I won't know the outcome for at least a few months.
My gf cooks pretty well, but most of her recipes come from a cookbook, all of mine are created in my mind/on the spot. Just like my Improv band!

I'm a big fat basstard, and it ain't because I don't know how to cook... :p

+1!

My buddy and I used to spend every Sunday night cooking something in a bottle of wine and drinking three more while we waited for it to finish cooking. He ended up cooking professionally at a few award winning restaurants. I turned to the dark side and became a bass player. I haven't forgotten the things we learned however.

No, I just think maybe they were pressed for time or something. I only bring things like that when I have no time to actually prepare something.

If I'd been there, I'd have brought my cream cheese pinwheels. Easy-peasy! Flour tortilla, smeared with cream cheese, seasoned with garlic and chives or whatever seems good to me that day, then roll them up. Let them sit in the fridge, then take them out and cut them up. Pretty little pinwheels, yummy, cheap, easy!

I can't cook worth beans. When my wife had to go stay with her Dad while he was dieing, I lived on BBQed steak, potatoes, raw carrots, frozen corn, soup. Oh, and my specialty: beans and eggs.

And yes, to the purists I am probably not really BBQing.... tough.

No, you weren't. Takes a real man to admit it. ;)

You barbeque brisket, and ribs. You grill steak.

Cherie :)

I can cook pretty well (so I'm told). My problem is getting around to cleaning up after.

I cannot believe so many folks simply cannot cook. Marinading and slow-roasting alone solve a whole lot of "what's for dinner" problems. Free internet recipes go a long way too. (Food Network's site rocks!)

I can cook pretty much anything, and it'll taste pretty damn good. I run a busy specialty kitchen in NYC. I slice, I dice, I bake, and I marinate. And some other stuff too, but I spend too much time hanging out in the walk in to remember.

It's true, musicians can't cook. The drummer of my band currently holds the world record for most people killed via food poisoning and I was responsible for an outbreak of E.coli.

That must have been one of the Pod People cooking rib-eye roast, mashed potatoes, peas-n-carrots, and a spiced pear pie in my kitchen for Christmas yesterday. Couldn't possibly have been me. My family still lives. :D

Cherie ;)

The singer/guitarist in my band is a fantastic cook, I recall a party he had at his house a couple of years ago that had such a spread of food that he laboured over all day that all I did was eat the whole night.

I like to cook as well, especially after my ex-wife and I separated. I can't stand feeding the kids boxed or canned food, so I've been working on cooking simple meals with fresh ingredients.
