Xsonics Club

The question was asked in another thread that has since been closed so I will answer it here as I believe this is a fitting place.

As of 4-4-2013, 28 Xsonics CF cabinets have been shipped to 24 individual bass players in the USA and Cananda.

Thank you everyone for the opportunity to fill and fit your bass cabinet needs and requirements!

I hope it stays open...I try to remain open minded but I don't take to people stirring a pot that doesn't need to be stirred.

just try to remember that's not your job to address. it is ours. so allow us to do it without contributing to the problem please. and that goes for everyone witnessing disruptions in their threads - just report and ignore. attempting to "address" problems contibutes to the problem, not the solution.

Got some pictures of my rig . Nick was kind enough to offer an update to my cab and paint it his signature blue instead the black it came in . After using black cabinets for fourty years this one stands out . Love the sound of this cab !

Here's a picture of it next to my self built 1260 cab with a Deltalite 2512 . The cabs are almost the same size , the 212CF is just a couple inches wider and a couple pounds lighter than my single 12 cab . Nice to have a small light cab that can stand alone in my loud rock band .

Sweet...you like your SVP?

Yes , I had a tube going out in it since I got it a couple years ago and have replaced all the tubes with JJs . Before I liked the tone but I only liked the sound of one of the 5 mid presets . With the new tubes all the presets sound good , I can get several great tones out of it . Before I got the SVP I used a Tech21 RBI pre for quite a few years and was always trying to get an Ampeg tone out of it . Nothing like the real thing to get that sound . The 212CF really sounds good with the SVP , the 212cf gets a great kind of grind when pushed hard and the Ampeg pre goes great with that .

Yep , that was my cab .

Any chance we can get a quick shootout of the Xsonics vs. your 1x12? I think it might be helpful (especially because they're so close in size) in explaining the reasoning behind Nick's design, as compared to a ''traditionally'' engineered cab.

I don't know about a shootout but the main thing about Nicks cab compared with the single 12 cab is the volume . The 1260 is a very loud 112 cab and it can do small gigs like a coffee shop or even a rock gig in a small bar pretty easily . Nicks cab though isn't limited to small gigs , it gets loud enough to use at medium to large gigs at just a little bigger size . The tone of each is different of course , the 1260 has a 6.5 mid and is a three way while this Xsonics is a more traditional two way despite driver orientation so the mids are different for sure . I don't miss the mid driver with Nicks cab though , the Kappalite 3012HO has a very forward mid anyway . Nicks cab seems to have as much low end as the 112 cab too .

Tonight I must have hit the sweet spot with the 212cf . I was getting a great SVT mid growl using the tips of my fingers and a fat low end that was still clear , I was in tone heaven . Blew me away ! Here's a couple picture of our new practice space . Everything is made to absorb our sound with very little sound bouncing around , very nice . I'm not in the pics because I'm taking them but these are my buds I play with in the rock band Spike .

I know what your talking about with that nice mid growl.i did an outdoor gig on Sunday pretty big and open . My 212cf just excelled as it usually does , the speakers have definitely opened up and are really full . I have adjusted back the bass control on my amp to right at noon at it is just perfect . Very cutting and well rounded , this cab does not lack in any respect , to my ear I don't really have to fiddle with anything at this point . It is truly a gigging bassists cabinet for sure . I am so confident with it , I just can't wait for the summer and the bigger stages I will be hitting . I think it will do it nicely .

So glad you're enjoying the Xsonics 212CF Blues Bass 2! Thank you for adding the picture!!

I'm all in, the 212cf arrived yesterday and man this cab kills. Thanks for the YouTube Dennis, what you said: no need in keeping the shipping box cause this cab ain't going back!
The GB max9.2 is on the way can't wait to see how they pair up. So far the LM tube 800 sounds great with this cab.
Great job Nick

Well I have a blues gig tonight , and a hard rock gig tomorrow night. I also just checked my email and found that my xsonics 2125cf shipped today it will be interesting to see what a 5" mid will do to the overall sound of the 212cf . It will be interesting .

From my brief encounter with a 215 CF and a 2155 CF at Xsonics HQ, I'd say that the midrange adds a bit of clarity that I really liked.

Is your plan to hold on to both regardless as a stack or keep the one you like the most? I will be most interested to hear your take on the two since you have been running without the mid so far compared to those of us who have had it and only dabbled with it off a bit.
