Xsonics Club

I have so many cabs and sold so many more. My Xsonics 212CF is still my main gigging cab. I currently have Berg cabs, Epifani, Mesa, Eden, SWR and recently sold off my Glasstone Lil G. I get the Xsonics out just about every weekend on gigs and I wouldn't trade it for anything. It really is a gigging bassists dream. Very loud, good low end push, small form factor for a 212.

Too bad Nick didn't run the company better. I think he had a great product but fell a little short on the delivery to market, especially here on TB. I got plenty of hate mail and moderater warnings when I got involved with Xsonics threads. I'm just an happy user, not a marketing employee of Xsonics. Somehow, Nick got banned from TB and all discussion of his products got scrutenized until it wasn't worth discussing anymore.

Near the end it seemed that customer service dropped off at Xsonics so I wasn't counting on getting support for my cab past the honeymoon phase anyway. That said, my 212CF has not skipped a beat and I have full confidence in gigging it every weekend. No support required.

I just got a very friendly deal on 2155CF, played for the first time last night, roots reggae gig at a little outdoor place in Newport, RI.
Taking it to a backyard party with the 80s pop band tonight. So far I'm really liking what this cab does- very nice, ample lows, nice punch, plenty of top end. A friend of mine would love to look into scoring one, but yeah it seems like this good thing may have come to an end... too bad.

Is this another subject we're beholden to tip-toe around?
I get it that someone could overrun their welcome, but the threat of reprisal for getting within range of this stuff is too weird. I hope this isn't that.
Yeah I really like this enclosure/system. I'd love to catch up to the dude who made them.

His name was Nick something. Can't remember the last name. I have no problem with people playing Xsonics, sorry if it sounded like that.

No, it's not your opinion of the cab I'm on about, just the way that people will back off a topic because it was a problem that was resolved. You know, like *Ken Smith*... or anyone else who's rippled up the Talkbass pond.

I know the guy flew in the face of the rules, I get it. Rules are good for public forums. And I don't mean to accuse you of walking on eggs! But I don't think it's a bad thing to want to hook up with good gear, even if its builder got kicked off here. That's all.
Lol, eh, it's alright, I get to play bass. Life is pretty good.

I'm just going to keep chiming in here since it seems to be so quiet.

Played my Epi Tbird through it last night for a bit. It seems a pretty bottom-heavy cab, and the lows, as you move up in pitch toward lo-mids territory, seem a little "muffled" sounding. To fix that I dialed down the lows on my preamp and started pushing up on the mids, esp boosting around the 600Hz mark.
I'm using a UK Trace SMX preamp, and am finding that using preshape 1, dropping some lows and boosting some crunchy mids really wakes things up a bit.
I was also using the cab in 2-way mode.
Ok, more later... we played a backyard party a few nights ago and we'll see if there's anything worth posting from it. I was new to the rig here so it won't be exactly tuned in, we'll see...
