Yamaha Club Part II

well i started when i started trombone which was 5/6 years ago, my music teacher told me i needed another instrument and my brother played/plays guitar so i thought bass!

As i wanted to keep with the jazz theme :D

ironically now i'm a rock bassist and a classical trombonist! lol

plus i'm a bit lucky, having loose parents :D

my first bass was a squier P

played an Attitude as my trombone teacher/bass teacher owns one, it felt perfect, so a year later i ordered it and just got a call from Yamaha saying its in scotland now! I'm so excited!

Thanks Nutso, I was pretty scared that I would wreck the instrument but after much research and advice I took the plunge. I am really glad I did. It is much easier than you think and I am definitely no handyman, with only basic tools.

Even carving the new nut the other day was easier than I thought it would be!

Just took it slowly...bit by bit...

My Fender is getting jealous though...

I don't own one but my neighbour/friend has one so i play it regularly

Its a great bass, and personally i dislike EMG's the RBX A2 is great

i'd be surprised if you could get one though as they stopped making them, i wasn't able to find one for sale any where new or used

Yeah I got one local for $200 in total MINT condition.

The local bass show (Bass Place in Tempe) sold their last one TODAY (!) and told me he would not get anymore.

If they broke the mold, too bad, and maybe too good for those who have one.

So far I love it. I play flats, so that I will do tonight, as well as set the action (the neck is just fine, I will play with the bridge). I don't know what the dude did with the pickups but he has them really close to the string and that's not good (you are supposed to be close but not that much).

I will also intunate it at the 12th.

But I love it. I started with Gary Moore's Still Got The Blues (I love this bass line, it completes the song so well) and STP's Interstate Love Song (this bass line is just fun to play) and I loved it right away.

And yes, it is light :) I intend to start gigging, because life is short and that bass is fun (and did I say light).

I bought a TRB6-II as a backup a couple of years ago. The previous owner had replaced the PU with Seymour Duncan Basslines but left the stock preamp in. Result: this bass sounds disapointingly thin.
Question for experts as I know next to nothing about electronics: could this be a compatibility problem between the PUs and the preamp? If so, what would you recommend?

Okay, this is the baby that I could not resist when I put my hands on her and heard the VOICE. Such a sexy voice, oh my God! :) I couldn't stand but add to my little harem.

Sorry that I'm not the greatest photographer in the world :rolleyes:
