I found these fantastic videos, and It looks like the bass its a Yamaha TRB6P with single coil exposed poles pick ups.

I thought so...
although the TRB6's have the typical cut out by the treble side, kind of like the Patitucci models..
it sounds great though, I wish they had them available in North America...btw. I sent an email to the author (hopefully he understands english
) asking him what bass that is..I am really intrigue by it.

Currently my only Yammy is a RBX270J... I also have a Warwick Crovette 6, but I play the Yamaha sooooooo much more. It's such a solid, no frills, clean, easy to play, great sounding instrument. Here:

My profile pic shows me playing my BB714BS, does that get me a club number? I also recently bought a beaten up Attitude plus, it came to me in 2 pieces, i had to remove all the rusty chrome hardware, i re-polished the frets and added black hardware, including a string through bridge. Hope to add some pics soon.

Just got a Jazz, so now I can tweak the Yammy without risking downtime - I'm thinking of replacing the factory pre with an Audere, and maybe even swapping the pups for some Nordstrands. Any opinions or suggestions?

My first impression of this bass was not really exciting. It was decent but I didn't really love it because I thought low B was not tight at all and I didn't really like the tone.
After 6 years of owning, my impression on this bass has changed a lot! Low B is still not as tight as my Dingwall AB-1, but it is still pretty tight as much as Warrior and Spector Euro are.
Most of all, this bass is super solid built.
This is the only bass that I haven't adjusted trussrod for over 6 years while I had all of other six string basses adjusted including the Dingwall bass. It endured horrible weather condition from international movings during last 6 years (Vancouver -> Beijing -> Seoul -> Beijing -> Vancouver -> Eugene)
IMHO, Yamaha TRB6p2 has its very original tone which is hard to describe because it does not really have any tonal characteristic of popular tones we can think of such as Jazz or Precision. I definitely understand that some people don't really like the sound because I was one of them.
Some people say that the tone is modern but I still would like to say it really has its own tone. It's also hard to say that the bass has modern sound because it doesn't sound like any modern bass we can imagine. If it is modern sounding because of the huge sound from the active circuit, then hell yes! This bass is sounding huge!! The tonal variety is very wide because EQ changes the sound a lot! And the piezo option is really musical, not like the one in Fretted MM SR Piezo!!!
It's kinda weird for me, it took about 5 years to understand its true value as a high-end bass. I am really glad that I did not get rid of this bass!
If you have a chance to own, give it a try. This is a really really good bass!
How about some DR black beauties and electrical tape ?
For my useage (and budget) I'm happy with it as is. A couple pounds less weight would be OK. It's one of the best deals I ever won on fleabay.
