Yamaha Club Part II

Number please! I'm excited to be here! I have a Yamaha SA2200 (ES335 copy) and I've been hooked on the company ever since. Heres my newly acquired (In Japan!!!) Yamaha TRB6II

Actually, I sold this TRB to touji:p:p:p:p (just kidding chris)

My TRB6II has emg pickups, and they work fine also in more rock-oriented situations, but for trb6, bartolini seems to have some narrow soapbar -type pickups. How they sound, well that's something I can't answer. But I think they would fit to the original pickup spaces.

cool man,
did you notice a big change in sound when you changed the stock to EMG? from I have read, EMG are hotter, punchier..:hyper::hyper:
you are right about bartolinis shape, the G6 shape fits my bass perfectly, and I am tempted to try them.
I am looking for a more open single coil sound...but the Nordstrand big singles don't fit my bass.....:crying: I would have to do some kind of surgery to it...
so far, I think Bartolini and EMG's make the size for the TRB's 6 (first versions)

I can't answer that either; I bought the bass second hand and the previous owner had changed the pickups. But he said he didn't like the sound of the original pickups at all and as far as I can say, my bass sounds great :) The acoustic, ergonomic and build quality properties of the TRB6II are very good and by changing better electronics, it becomes one very versatile bass! (it has also the EMG BQS System preamp). I think these pickups could be described as quite hot and punchy but like I said, I don't have a direct comparison.

One fellow bassist who has the TRB5II doesn't like the stock pickups either.

But I have understood (and heard from records) that the narrow stock pickups in TRB6s and JP's sound great as they are.
