It now wears chromes and will form now on.. Sold my MIA P bass in favor of this bass.

Okay, gigged with it Thursday night. The control knobs are V/V for the p'ups, and the toggle switch is your tone. Bottom for the highs, middle for mids (duh!), and the top position for the lows. In the mid position, and the volume for the neck p'up lowered, this bass IS a P Bass! With the neck p'up boosted a little, you'll get a J Bass type tone. As for the feel of this bass, you can tell that it's high end quality as soon as you pick it up. The neck is to killed for.

This is the ULTIMATE pick and fingerstyle bass. It's good for slapping, but picking and fingering is what she does best. If you thumb just below the neck with the lows boosted, you'll get a really good upright and reggae sound. As soon as I plugged it in @ soundcheck, the soundman, who's a bassist, came from behind his board and stood in front of me and nodded his head. Then he asked if he could play it. After he piddled around with it for a while, he handed me his card and called "Dibs" if I decided to sell. LOL! I need to spend more time with her, and I'll have a better review later, but these are just my first impressions. Sorry for the crappy pic. Btw, a big THANK YOU to Mike Tempesta @ Yamaha!

Here are my Yamaha basses !!!
from left to right :
BBN4III with roundwound strings and wired with a switch for PUs.
RBX260 Pink Panther with original PU and rebuilded wiring
RBX260 Bell with Wizard Trad PU and rebuilded wiring
RBX 260 natural with Wizard Thumper PU, I'm going to make it fretless

Those basses are great to play live because they are lightweight : around 3,200 kg (around 7 lbs ).

Hard to follow that pic.... I have an RBX460. It was given to me by a friend of my dad's after my dad died. Don't know much about the Yamahas, but it plays great, sounds good thru the new amp, Acoustic B100. My son uses it in his cover band and I use it at church and blues jams. Blue with the artificial (?)flamed maple top. Whatever they call it, high definition(?), foto flame, whatever. My son has an Ibby GSR200 he bought for his 8th birthday. It's a fine player too, for the price.

What's the deal with the bar across strings on the head stock? I know it angles the strings where they break over the nut, but can I get rid of it? Looks like a 60's Kawai or something. Really cheapens the look of the bass, I think.

Do the Yamahas change neck bow with the seasons like the Ibby does? About this time of year the Ibby needs a trussrod adjustment. Is that a bass thing due to longer neck?

I'm kinda new, kinda old. Played bass 20 years ago then quit and been hacking at it since the boy bought his 2 yrs ago. I can keep up with a blues band, but am by no means a stellar bass player.

Nice looking basses ya'll have.
