I have an RBX550 that looks nearly identical to your RBX650 except for the headstock. I wonder what the differences are between the two models? (I replaced my stock pickups with Seymour Duncan quarter pounders and currently use it as my E-flat bass).

Have you ever just done a search for "RBX550" in Google? Or a CL site search? (In Google, type: "RBX550 site:craigslist.org") I found one in Phoenix for $100.

Very pleased with the upgrade. The stock pickups just sounded thin (especially the P-bass pickup compared to my BB400). Since I planned to play more contemporary rock on this instrument, I decided to go with higher output pickups.
The Seymour Duncans (Quarter Pounders, SPB-3 & SJB-3) are hotter and are most noticeable in the lower midrange. I don't have as much on the E-string as I would like, but it's an improvement.
The only issue - and it's minor - is that the pickup mounting screws don't match the original holes. Also, the pickups are smaller than the cavities because the original ones have large covers. It took me two installs to get them to align with the strings well.
I don't know how well you can tell from the pic below, but here's mine:
I really love my TRB5II, it plays as well and sounds as good as any bass I have ever owned. I hope to get some YouTube clips of me playing standards with a pianist soon. The tone kills!

Looks a lot like my except for the headstock.
The neck on mine is about the best that I've ever played. Smaller jazz neck with p pickups, I can get really fast on it.
I need to check the grounding on the bridge, case I'm getting a little buzz when I take my fingers off the strings. Did you have any issues with this?
I'm not wildly crazy about the pickups, but for the stuff I do the P's work out just fine. I can make mods on the amp settings or add some jazz pickup to give it a little brighter punchier tone. There are times that I do like the muddy sound, and these pickups definitely bring that...

The fretless electronics were changed over to Bartolini and the bass sings more now. Some day I plan on having the fingerboard treated. The trb5 is stock and has TI Jazz Roundwound strings which is not usual but I like the woody growl they have. The BB425 I strung up the other day with D'Addario Half round super long scale strings which will probably stay. I like half rounds on the fretless too.

Hi! Sorry for the delay on me. The TRB is (I guess) from mid-90's. It was fretless when it came from the factory but when you look at the fingerboard, it has strips of rosewood at the spots where the frets would be so it looks like it's been modded. All in all, it's a really nice instrument with a SUPER fast neck and nice versatile active electronics. When I play it I always regret of selling my TRB-1006 6-string
