IMO, to get a brighter sound, you would have to consider changing the bridge pickup to one that is splitable and also add a preamp to give you a little boost. I don't know if they would fit, but the Bartolini Quad would be my suggestion here.

That signature bass is simply amazing looking. I'm not usually big on spalted woods, but that one has it going. I also like the inlay on your TRB JPII; never seen that before.

So, three Yammies and I haven't joined the Yamaha Club yet.....shame on me! Can I have a number please?

00' SBV-500 (found in a pawn shop for $200)
00' BB1500a (w/hsc and a Warwick Rockbag, misc stuff on CL for $300)
and a new BB425X (bought in a music store w/gig bag $400)

I think I did pretty good on my Yammies.........

It is with heavy heart and a slightly heavier wallet that I must tender my resignation - the RBX360 is packaged up and ready for shipping to its new owner tomorrow. There's a recurring theme with me and Yamaha - first acoustic, electric (6 and 12) and bass guitars, and yet I don't have any of them now! If I had room for two basses (and didn't need to pay off the new one) I'd still have it though. A great instrument. Keep on enjoying yours!

New owner of Yamaha BBG4S 2 and i love it... Preamp died on me :scowl: so i went passive and i can say it sounds beautiful. Action is low with no buzz, plays and feels great. Waiting for new preamp for more tonal options. Cant believe i paid only 260$ for it. This one is a keeper....

The Yamaha website still shows the TRB1006, TRB6PII, and TRBJP2 in production. None in the RBX or BB series, though.

You're right though, the only ones I'm seeing for sale are used and MF is saying the 1006 is discontinued. Seems odd that a company like Yamaha wouldn't have kept their corporate website updated.

I know, it's a bit frustrating and leads me to believe that they don't have plans keep producing them, sadly.

I might consider letting this baby go! :D

One of the very last they produced before discontinuing the series.. Sadly these are getting rare, they're amazing instruments!
