Finally found another BBN5. I wish I would have waited though, one came up on e-bay a few days ago with the dark natural finish. But black is my third choice anyway so I'm still glad I got it.

ok guys as promised here is my BBG5a back from my bass tech dude, the wilkinson MM didnt fit yamaha's string spacing so he did me a deal on a basslines MM :ninja:

i need to set it up to my setup, will do that tonight.

here are some piccys

i LOVE what he did for the scratch plate, and she THUNDERS, P is powerful, deep and rich while the MM is tight a little shy but still growly and mean.

im gonna get some better pics and maybe some A/B sound clips with my other BBG5a

I have a Lefthanded '83 BB400 I bought new to replace stolen gear. It's still 100% stock and wears a set of TI Jazz flats which I feel really makes it come alive! I'll try to figure out some way to post a pic of it someday.

I always wanted a BB3000. I actually saw a red one on ebay a couple of years ago, but I was outbid. :crying:

Cheers!

ok just an update on my newly modified bass.......again

i just had a 4 hour practice/jam session with it, OH WOW!!!

it does the funky stuff the rock stuff the RnB/soul lines (proper RnB not modern).

the output is hot, yamaha must use quite low output pickups as the basslines is hot anyway and the circuit just adds to that while the P is a more vintage styled tone its still hot compared to my other BBG5a. i actually found myself (to the amusement of my jam buddies) going rather frequently into bass solo mode and going nuts....... but everyone there loved it.

a massive thumbs up to the MM and P config esp with low B, its a little backward but as the poles are slightly off on both pickups but still close enough for good signal pickup, the B isnt overpowering or boomy so i dont need to adjust my attack on it too much to control it.

Look at what I just bought on Ebay for $152, including the hard case. I have the 5 string version (see the picture earlier in this thread), and really love the sound, but I mostly play 4 string. Now I'll have a 4 string with that sound. And I love the blue color. Can't wait for it to arrive.

nice job, thats a good price

I was really surprised that I got it for that price. I just hope it sounds the same as my BBG5A. I assume it does, since it has the same pickups/preamp.

If it does it may just become my #1 bass. I have 21 basses, with some nice great sounding ones like a Lakland JO4, a G&L L2000 and two 76 Gibson Thunderbirds, and the cheap Yamaha sounds better than any of them. Or maybe it is just more the sound I like than any of them, but to me it sounds better. It has a ton of low end, but not muddy indestinct low end, nice clear, round and punchy low end, with a little growl when I need it.

its kinda weird i had a five string that looked like your 4's :D still got one just its QMT, come on we need more BBG love (like 4 posts on this page aint enuf)

i know what you mean Showdown, i only modded my BBG5 cos i managed to get the QMT one cheap, i LOVE the tone of the yamahas over the tone of my fenders, they feel nicer in my hands too (not that the fenders and the epi feel bad, far from it) and MY tone is dead easy to just dial in where as my jag i need to fiddle for a bit if i change my settings.

some groovy guy you are making me want a 6er now(come on i hardly use the B handy as it is), those trb's are sweet.

Nice bass for a nice price!

I started on an RBX270 and just recently managed to get hold of an RBX765A which I absolutely love, I'll get some pictures up when I get the chance :)

Well that took forever, but I finally got some pictures of my RBX765A. I think it's the first one in this fine club of ours?
Anyway, pics;

Warning! Phonecam quality and bad photography lies ahead! (Also I need to dust my bass more often >__<)
