dear yamahanians...please... i was thinking of getting yamaha nowadays. ofcourse i will try some first,but your experience would help too.
basses i consider are trb5ll and 1005 / 1006

i love those TRB necks nice and palm filling.....in a comfy way, i would just say (in an echoed alec guiness voice) 'trust your feelings'. try out a few and see which one floats your boat, i only have BBG's but i would happily have a TRB 5 or 6 if the opportunity arose......especially if it was trans green.

the thing i have found with my yamahas is the bass boost is quite heavy and only useful on the bridge pickup, which aint too much of a problem really

That TRB is hot.

I just put some fresh EB Stainlesses on my BB3000 tonight, and it sounds unbelievably good. I've been waffling on whether I liked that bass, but changing out the strings has rekindled my affection for it. :cool:

I'm assuming that it's the normal high C and low B tuning...but I'll know for certain tonight because the Patitucci is Out for Delivery!

I recently joined the forum and was excited to see an exclusive Yamaha thread.

This was the first bass I ever owned, a Yamaha BBG4 in "Amber Burst" purchased from Guitar Center in 1998. I've made considerable modifications to it over the years: Added Bartolini Jazz pickups, Bartolini 2-Band preamp, Hipshot A Style bridge, graphite nut, Carvin tuners, string ferrules, Battery Box, black hardware.

At one point it was in need of a refret so I decided to try a little something different. I was playing a Specter NS2000-5 pretty much exclusively at the time and wanted a fretless bass. I decided to have a Maple fretless fingerboard made and installed on my original neck. I eventually ordered a replacement neck from Yamaha and put my fretless neck on another body I bought off Ebay which is shown below.

This one was once a BBN4 purchased from Ebay, I replaced most all off the stock parts just as on my other bass: Hipshot A Style Bridge, string ferrules, battery box, Carvin Tuners, Barotlini 3-band Preamp, Carvin Stacked humbuckers, black hardware. I use Thomastik Flatwounds on this bass, and it has a nice warm tone surprisingly, considering the Maple board.
