Good day to you all. I'm currently waiting for my first TRB. 1005j. I recently used BB2025X which was absolute gamechanger to me. I always played Fenders and simillar stuff. I had to pass my BB because of mechanical issue and neck fit but ever since Yammys were my goto.

My friend has guite good TRBs collection. From old TRB to TRB JP and TRB 5II to new TRB 1005J. Unfortunately I am not able to test them. And frankly speaking even if I would be able test them I am not sure that I want. From sound tests I heard TRB 5II sticks out to me and sound superb to the others but I am not able to find one to buy. 
So I'll wait with 1005J until some will be available.

Traded my 1990 Pedulla MVP5 for a Highway 1 (NOT Highway One) that was mine and modified, plus cash and a (I estimate) a 1994 TRB5P, with a good friend of mine. Always wanted an early series TRB and cannot stop appreciating how wonderful these succesors to the BB series are. Truly happy and a beautifully crafted companion to my old 80s BB basses
I know that it was discussed here and there thousand times but to my ears TRB5P is little mystery. Used by many great musicians but sounding little bit too mid scoped or with some missing low mid growl. On some records sounding like Fodera Emperor on the other hand on others I nearly must look for it in the mix. I am heading to buy new 5 string workhorse and only from some basic sound research I found that speaking about sound TRB 5 PII or 5I or II sounds superior to others. Buying new bass is always bit confusing.

Do any TRB JP2 users on here know if I need to get the super / extra long scale D'Addario EXL or Mangan strings, or will the regular long scale strings fit? I use regular long scale strings on my 35" Lakland 5. Any opinions on the Mangan strings vs the D'Addario? I recently switched from D'Addario NYXLs to Mangan on my 4 string Jazz, and I really like them. I am not sure if the 30 on the Mangan C string might be a bit light?
I have to bring for the luthier my TRB 6 II, its time to refreting. Do you know what is the original fret size of the TRB II basses? We are not really sure exactly....
Dos anyone have any experience with adjusting the nut depth on a TRB 6 JP2?

I've done a lot of nut slots (not that bass but they're all the same) and the main point to remember is you can take it off but you can't add it back. That's another way to say "go slow and do it in increments until you're happy then leave it alone."
I use a set of needle files in the absence of having proper nut files.
This might be the longest bass review I’ve ever done purely because what I’ve been through with these 2 brands, been playing Yamaha basses since 2008 and playing Sire since its birth 2015 and now I present you my honest brutal review for these particular best entry level series in the world, the humbuckers Yamaha TRBX 305 and the new contender Sire M2 5 string all made in Indonesia. I see this series as a perfect choice for players of all level to experience the best affordable quality bass in the market today. I’m interested in hearing TRBs on professional recordings. Does anyone know of any professionally mixed songs where a TRB bass was used?
One I can think of is Byron Cage’s self-titled 2003 album, which features Kevin Stancil placing a TRB-6. Nathan East used his custom TRB-6P on the “101 Eastbound” solo. Would love to learn about others.

Most things from John Patitucci after and including his Sketchbook album. I’ve heard that Erick Coomes of Lettuce fame used his TRB-6P on multiple Britney Spears tunes.
I dunno about the albums, but Lee Sklar played a TRB4P on the 1990 Phil Collins tour and there's plenty of professionally mixed videos from that tour:

The Specs page here on the Yamaha USA website lists the fret wire for the TRB JP2 as medium. Not sure if the 6 II is different though?

Seems medium jumbo or something. Maybe Patitucci have some preferences for frets, but it could be good for TRB II too….
Have a listen to this BB King show. Very good live mix and you can really hear the quality if the TRB bass.
