Around here, with the lakes in southwest Missouri, we call that finish the "basscaster" finish, as in the large-mouth variety of the fish.

I'm generally not a big fan of metalflake, but if this one weren't 10 pounds, I'd have kept it forever. Everything about it was perfect..... except the weight.View attachment 4203937

Unfortunately it takes a lot of clear coat to go smoothly over big flake. There’s probably a pound of clear on it. Can’t have your cake and eat it too.

Not true.
The gold P bass in the above pics is 8lbs.
The billy bo is 8.5
Sparkle L2500 is 9.5

How come nobody metalflakes the neck? I know painted fingerboards are quite rare but they do exist, someone going THAT FAR with the attention-grabbing paint should go just a little farther...

I dyed the maple neck on my Tangerine Billy Bo to match.
Special Edition Build off - Super Tangerine Billy Bo
Also Gold glitter faux binding.
Glitter control knobs.

The heavier weight may have helped it not neck dive. I do like those ASATs, but they notoriously neck dive if the body doesn't have some heft to it.

Haha, my father used to have a bass boat and went large mouth fishing. Every time I see a sparkle finish, I instantly think of my dad's old red sparkly boat

Those glitter knobs are a nice touch! Are they recent? I thought I remember seeing it originally with chrome knobs.

It doesn't mean you can't have a light bass. It does mean that the finish is heavier although I doubt it's a full pound heavier. It does take a huge amount of clear to protect the flake.
