Soft shell all the way. Hard shell tone is too brittle.

Preferably, the ones from Jack in the Box where the grease soaks into the shell on the bottom, so the edges are crisp but the bottom is soft so it doesn't crack open and spill the meat.
Actually, I know there are a lot better tacos than Jack in the Box but I have a sentimental attachment to them. My grandmother and I would stop at JITB and get tacos, then we'd sit on the edge of her 64 Chevelle and eat them at the park down the street. One of my great boyhood memories in a boyhood that didn't have very many of them.

I went to a mexican restaurant near my Mo-in-laws in the Detroit area once that had the best tacos I've ever eaten. It was like the best of both hard and soft shell tacos. The shells were flour tortilla, but they had been deep fried, so they were still crunchy.

You can make them like that yourself at home. Just put the cooked meat in the crunchy shells before putting them in the oven.

Found out today Taco Bell discontinued the double-decker and I'm absolutely crushed...

Ow. OWWWWW! These hard taco shells are so....hard. I prefer a food group that can be squeezed at one end and eaten like toothpaste. Speaking of which, anybody squeezed a Slim Jim at one end and observed the heinous orange fat paste that exudes out the end? Now THAT'S eatin'.
I love all tacos. In restaurant, soft shell corn is great. However, IMHO nothing on earth can beat these at home....
