Double Bass Yoga Mat for Orchestra

I'd ask my instructor, but I've already hit my personal quota of weird questions this week. I started running again and my knees are a little tired. I want to avoid over exertion this evening. Would it be inappropriate to take a small black yoga mat to stand on for this afternoon's rehearsal and evening's performance? I'd use a stool, but I'm not very well practiced on a stool. Thanks!

Bring it and ask, I don't see any problem for the rehearsal. Maybe the performance but in the end it's the instructor decision.

Warning: If anyone ever though about using a yoga mat to prevent slipping, even with a rubber ball I've nearly destroyed two mat...

I appreciate the advice and warning. My goal is to keep it partially rolled up and clamp it to ensure it doesn't unroll. I thought about cutting it up, but those things are not exactly cheap...

since you already classified it as a wierd question. I use a Black Memory foam Bathroom mat to stand on for practice and gigs. Much smaller and cheaper than a yoga mat, already cut to the right size and looks finished. It definitely has helped my knees plus also I believe hip and back.
Check Bed Bath and beyond, TJ Max ect. Shopping with my wife sometimes has its benefits.

I occasionally stand on a black comfort floor mat to give myself a bit of support. Our stage floor is black so I don't feel bad about laying down a black mat on it, but I'm not sure I'd worry too much as long as the color is black or neutral. It can't hurt to ask, if you're not sure.

Mine is similar to this:
