Yorkville TC112 cab - seen one yet ?

I just noticed the TC112 on the Traynor website as well. This could be great for a mini rig-of-doom that I am thinking of putting together (one in each hand and a 6.0 or MB2 in a gigbag over the shoulder). The price is also right.

Ok, let's talk tone...has anyone checked this baby out?

Called L&M today trying to find out which
celestions these are equiped with;

Orange Label Neo= punch,clarity,dynamic---slap/tap
or
Green Label Neo= deep,warm,hard driving rock---fingerstyle

Anyone from Traynor/L&M know what celestions
are in the TC 112?

Someone get out there and try one and post a review. I'd love to but can't for a couple weeks.

You can't expect a miracle from a small cabinet with a 12" speaker, but a pair of them with adequate power from one of the new lightweight heads might be a nice portable setup that could be used for the majority of gigs most bassists play. And for guys like me, it looks like you can safely turn the tweeter right off without damage to the L pad. Or crank it wide open and slap yourself silly.

The 350 watt head used in the combo seems to have basically the same preamp used in the Traynor Dynabass 200 combo and the earlier Yorkville XM 200 combos. I owned one of these with the 15 and it was a good amp for the money and did very well for a maximum of 200 watts. Just way too heavy.

This new one is fairly light for Yorkville and if it's of the same quality as some of their earlier amps sounds like a good deal.

Yes, it would be good to know which Celestion Traynor is using.

Wow- Canada might have caught up to the 21st century! First-indoor plumbing, then electricity, then powered flight and paved roads and now a Canadian lightweight bass amp.

Hey 62Bass, let me know when you're coming by!

The pre-section LOOKS the same as the XM/DB200 amp, but instead of the typical low mid bump when the controls are set to "flat", it's actually FLAT when set flat. Huge difference, I don't have the frequency centres handy, but I'll try to grab them and post them next week.

I believe they're using the Green Label Celestion Neo drivers, if it's not I'll post that as well.

I can't post a review per se (C.U.P.), but I was happy with the one I was able to try out with the DB300 1x12. Great little setup and easy to carry.

I imagine the 1x12 cab would work as an extension for my GK MB150S too. That'd be a nice lightweight combo to easily cart around in a small car.

Yes - I did get mine. Here are my thoughts on it. I am using it with a Little Mark 250 head.

Seems to be very well constructed - and a great weight . The reason I got it - was after jamming with one of the newer Fender combos - Bassman 150 112 I think - I was pleased with the tone and thought it would make a great portable rig. Even at the 8 ohms - the Traynor/LM250 is loud enought for my jamming needs.
The cabinet is very middy. Not sure if that is a word - but the EQ settings that I use with my 115 JBL equipped Doyle cab are way to mid oriented for the 112.
Once I dialed in some new settings - it sounded good. Not as good as the 115 - not even close - but still pleasing. There is a ton of air pumping out of the cab when you play - thru the front port - and even the speaker jack on the back.
Taking into consideration what it is - a small - light 112 cab - it sounds good and is definitely useable - but I dont hear any real warmth from it - more punch and modern sounding - and I'm pretty sure its the orange Celestion BTW.
Now - when I paired it with my 115 cab , and ran them together - wow. The 115 had the nice warm , round smooth tone with the 112 adding punch and clarity. It sounded great - but the 115 is the size of a house and almost as heavy - so that defeats the purpose of the whole light weight idea to take them anywhere together.
So - in closing - it does serve the purpose that I bought it for - light , portable, well built , and decent sounding. But - it's not my sound I dont think. I wouldn't buy another one - and will probably sell this one down the road - and that's probably the defining point for me. YMMV - Jim.

Looking at the specs, you're probably right. The Orange went in one, and the Green went in the other, so it would seem the Orange is in the TC112 and the Green is in the DB300 1x12...I'll seek confirmation on that!

Edit: Just got word that the Green is actually in the TC112...awaiting further info to post!

Thanks for that. I'll just have to try it out myself. I like warmth but I realize there have to be some compromises made when dealing with small cabinets. I really dislike the midrangey, slap and pop, lots of attack sound myself. Hopefully it won't be too much of a compromise.

Rev--It would be good to find out which speaker they used in the extension, although there's nothing we can do about it. I doubt you could easily switch one for the other. There is also the cost of such a swap to consider.

If you get a chance to try it with the little GK I'd like to know what you think.

I'm actually thinking of asking if a run could be done with the Greens...TC112-G...and maybe a DB300-O...options are good!

Hey guys, the drivers in both the DB300 1x12 combo and TC112 ext. cab are the GREEN Celestion Neo 12" drivers. They're both capable of handling 50hz no problem, despite their small size and portability.

I've made a suggestion that there be an option to go Orange, we'll see where that goes, cheers!

If you go to the Celestion site - it states the Green only handle 200 watts - and the Orange is 300 watts - so it was my assumption that thet are the orange speakers - as the cabinet is rated at 300 watts - am I missing something ? If this is the Green in my cab - I would run really far from the Orange...........
