You can't make this up

Most retailers with self-respect would either not buy "scratch-'n'-dent" stuff from these manufacturers or, they would just chalk this one up to a loss and be done with it. Of course, that looks like (what my hazy memory identifies as) a GC price tag?

I know there are retailers who buy "seconds" from manufacturers at greatly reduced prices. I also know the lot they're buying could be seconds based upon things ranging from a slight imperfection in the finish to pieces of junk like the one in the O.P.'s photo.

I think the odds might be better in Vegas, Atlantic City, or playing your local state lottery.

That neck is going to end up being warped and F@#$ed anyway. They are just doing you a favor by speeding along the process....
...no extra charge to you.
You should be thanking them...
...next!

Isn't that pretty close to what a CV costs new?

Yes, the tag shows the original price and the "savings" you get for this. It's $50.02 off the original price, for an unreturnable bass with a warped neck.

Sadly I imagine there are people out there who don't realize how big a problem that is and will think $50 off a bass like this is a good deal, then find themselves stuck with a lemon.

I did take a chance on a MIM Classic 60s Jazz that was priced right but reported to have no adjustment in the neck. Most of them at the time did have a stiff truss rod. It needed just a little more, about a1/4 turn past stiff.

It's been fine ever since.
