you know your a pedal head if --

When you passively aggressively* post a link to a 2 year old thread that you created on the very same subject.

You Know You're an FX Junkie When....

*j/k

Stay in school.

:D

Dude:
Link Removed

All I can say is HAHAHA!!! :D

And:
When you go to sell FX, and end up trading for a bigger better stronger faster one.

When you want to go after a certain pedal builder and hold him hostage for info on new pedals.

When the most exiting news you read all day is the release of a new pedal, and then drool over the accompanying gear pron.

When you want to put a pickup on your upright because you want to use a bow witha delay, envelope filter, fuzz, and phaser combo.

When you see nothing wrong with playing a pedal board with a big muff, bassballs, b:assmaster, cream pie, swollen pickle, and a cherry pop in church.

When you try to defend your addiction with stuff like "at least it's not drugs".

When your uncle want's to pay you for staying and helping at his house, and immediately you think of a pedal instead of cash.

When you log on to TB and the first forums you read are Accessories for Sale, and effects.

Well, when you make accurate CAD drawings of your future pedal board with all the exact dimensions of the individual pedals (especially the ones you dont own, yet) on the previous day of a very important exam. To top it off, come back home after miserably getting screwed in test and think, ah, "just 3 more years and I'm gonna have the cash for this board"!!!

When you work on call at a hospital, get a transport call, check the status of your incoming El Capistan coming today, get to the hospital and the call is cancelled, get back home check it again and smile because it went from Thousand Oaks to Vernon in that time and is less than an hour away but still has to be delivered......

Also you are getting a Fuzzrocious Momster from Singapore, you know that the international shipping will take at least a week yet you check the status everyday and stare at pics of the pedal to come to tide you over....

My wife tells me today that once I get these two pedals that she recommends for me to take a break and you laugh in her face...(she's a good wife b/c she just laughed along and said "well that's my husband!")

...your wife has become a pedalhead by osmosis! :D My wife knows more about pedals then most musicians in my area! I always talk about them in depth, then when I hook them up I explain what its doing and play it for her.
I have a good repertoire with several builders and I just refer to them by their 1st name and she knows exactly what brand I'm talking about. I love her so much!!!!

you know your a pedal-head...

...if you keep a list of all the effects you're going to buy in the near future

...if start researching for new effects soon after you just bought one and wonder what a great effect could go with that one.

...if you don't play all day but turn up your pedal-board, stomp all the effects on just to see the wonderful light that warms your heart. (even more if you turn the lights off:D)

...when your homepage on your browser is either craigslist or TB-effect

+1...wow, we're all very sad addicts!

Guilty of all of these:

you know your a pedalhead...

...if you keep a list of all the effects you're going to buy in the near future
...if start recearhing for new effects soon after you just bought one and wonder what a great effect could go with that one.
...if you don't play all day but turn up your pedalboard, stomp all the effects on just to see the wonderful light that warms your heart.

...If you have on multiple occasions dropped to the floor mid rehearsal to switch pedals in and out of your rig

...you have offered to run your bandmates boards just to surround yourself with more pedals

...you have sat with a pedal in your backpack, reached in, and slowly turned knobs, just to turn knobs

... if, when you run out of room on your pedalboard, you start planning to build a bigger board rather than sell a pedal.

... if every soundguy mistakes you for the guitarist when you start setting up.

When guys you don't even know call or write to ask about effects, chain order and so on...

...you wonder if terrible weather in various parts of the country will affect the shipping of your pedal.

if a pedal arrives in the mail and you don't remember ordering it.

...if your checking the mail daily, even when you haven't ordered a new pedal.

you know your a pedal head if the first thing you do after waking up is check the talkbass effects/classifieds forums followed immediately craigslist.

...followed by then checking GearPage, then eBay, then back to TB classifieds because something cool must have been added in that short time frame.

...you know the location of the industrial strength Velcro in every local Walmart and hardware store.

..and arts & crafts stores, and which is cheapest because you keep going back to each store to buy more.

when you make accurate CAD drawings of your future pedal board with all the exact dimensions of the individual pedals (especially the ones you dont own, yet)

...and your coworkers see these detailed wiring layouts on screen and mistake it for actual work.

you know your a pedalhead:
...if your pile of pedal boxes is larger than your speaker cabs.
...if you receive a non-pedal related package in the mail and the first thing you notice is the size of the box is perfect for shipping out more pedals.
...if you try to convice your bandmates to covert over from multi-effects boards, just so you can influence thier pedal purchases and arrangement.
...if industrial velcro has replaced ducttape as your all purpose solution to everything.
...if your pedals' knobs have been replaced with custom or aftermarket knobs.
...if your pedalboard has more lights on it than your roommates audiophile stereo rack setup.
...if staring into the bright lights of your pedalboard has become more entertaining than watching television.
...if you believe your pedalboard will one day start playing music all on it's own.

. . . on more than one occasion you have, apropos of nothing, launched into a passionate spiel on the relative merits of true-bypass vs. buffered bypass switching.

(Extra points if you've attempted this with non-musicians, baffling all parties involved.)

...if you have your pedal in your side pocket to defend yourself in a bad neighborhood.

(true story. a guy tried to mug me and I said, ok my wallet is in my side pocket. let me get it. And then he got a faceful of DISTORTION. It was a stupid move though I'm not trying my luck like that again)

You know you're a pedalhead when you can create entire pedalboards with only ONE "type" of pedal - for instance, "the folded-steel-trapezoidal EHX board", or "the fuzz board", or "the envelope filter board".

You also know when you repeatedly tell your guitar player that your new fuzz pedal is IT - NO MORE - I'M DONE......

but it's not. and you're not.
