Hello all. I am new to this forum but I thought I would share a little of my humor.

You know you are a bass player if.....

1) You are constantly being told to "turn it down a little more".

2) You say, "Oh, Primus has a guitar player in the band??"

3) On the movie "That Thing You Do", you rewind Wolfman's bass solo several times.

4) When you use your slap technique to do percussion of a patient's chest cavity during a physical (medical people should get that one).

5) You laugh when some guitar player brags about having an amp that puts out more than 100 watts.

6) Every sound system you own, including your compter, has a subwoofer and hundreds of watts of power.

7) You were angry when you heard that Bob Rock played bass on the new Metallica album instead of Robert Trujillo.

Have fun !

Damn, I knew there were more people out there who hated the bass stuff in school of rock :hmm: I was waiting to see what homework the bassist gets, but nuffin  . Anyone know what song they play when they get jack to go gig? It's just bass and drums but I don't know if it even is a song. Timing is around 1h.30min on my PC.

But my question: are we bass guitar players or bassists? :help: Oh, and you know when you play bass when:

...you have to remind everyone that it's a BASS, not a guitar
...that it's NOT easier 'coz it has four strings
...people ask you to play stupid punk three-note bass lines (hey, everyone wants me to play the white stripes' seven nation army and I HATE that one)
...when you get mad when you hear someone say: If you want to be famous, play bass. It's easy and you can join a good band and become famous on the guitar player's back (this happened to me)

After you hear people say "you must be good because you play a five string" a few times, you'll be equally as sick of the five string comments.

Or when people say... "can you slap" or when bass players say "what jaco tunes can you play" sorry, they are the one of the first questions asked by people when I first meet them, like if you don't do either of these things well you must not be very good. Thats how I know I am a bass player. :)

I had some guitarist say that to me so I played a fast walking bass line for 15 mins and said "go on, do that then" and when he said he couldn’t I did an example of a guitar solo and laughed very hard. and I played with a punk band once and it took me 10 mins to write down the music for the whole set. I think the rest of the band was a bit depressed that all their songs were so simple.

... your band starts to play the tune "Red Red Wine" to a packed club, the guitarist's amplifier goes dead (blown breaker), so the audience only has bass and drums to sink their teeth into. The dance floor is packed anyway.

The sick sense of satisfaction in that packed dance floor (no guitar whatsoever), means you know you're a bass player.
