You least favorite finishes

any paisley finish is the lowest in my book

i hate it when they are finished with a country's flag. union jack and stars n stripes are just plain cheesy!

buckeye burl tops
spalted tops
matching headstocks

but my taste can also turn on a dime

Neon Fluorescent Pink, Orange, Yellow etc. and those matching Neon colored strings.

Definetly"least" favorite. It hurts my eyes when I see those basses.

This cracked me up just because of it's bluntness. But I think we can all agree that a beautiful hand stained bass made with exotic woods is by far more gorgeous than any paint job can get.

Um... Were you not listening? Personally, I agree with you, but there are a LOT of posts on here that obviously state they hate the exotic wood look... or did I completely miss your sarcasm?

Antigua is probably the only finish that I would not own no matter what. It's hideous

Most exotic tops, although some are okay.

Sorry, for me it is generally PAINT and anything else that covers up and masks the grain and natural beauty of the wood. Although on many basses the wood grain just isn't appealing or is glued non-professionally in a manner that makes the wood unattractive.

This bass happens to be an exception for me, as it is REALLY marginal as far as the wood quality goes:

I'm genuinely shocked at the amount of people who think natural woodgrain is an ugly finish.
I think my least favourite are "tobacco" burst and national flags.
Also, high-polish chrome because my face is uglier than everything mentioned in this thread.

I mean, imagine spending all that money for a lovely new expensive Warwick.... with this finish.

Fender 2 tone bursts
Fender 3 tone bursts
Natural
Coffe table bass finishes like spalted this and burled that

I really don't HATE any colors, but you gotta ask... "What the heck were they thinking when they came up with that Antigua combo?. Looks like a boiled egg gone bad.

LOL, that's true when you boil an egg too long, the yolk has that Antigua finish around the edge.

I have to agree with this. Silverbursts have always looked "blah" to me. Like there's something missing...
