I play 4 instruments. I can tell you there are jerks amongst us bassists. Guitarists are far from the only ones. I play bass in 2 bands and I look up to the guitarists immensely. One of them has become one of my best friends.

Wow! Some people have a joke about guitarists and it makes you think the whole world needs to be killed. I'd hate to see how you handle real problems in life.
Much better than you think, actually. I'm just sick and tired of the ever growing number of people who make it their life's business to be offended, and I don't see any particular reason to suppress my opinion of them.

sometimes a humor forum is just a humor forum, not everything in life needs to be so politically correct that it sucks the fun and humor out of life. 
Sorry mate. I read it back to front. While your proposed method is a little extreme I do agree with the sentiment.

Yep. A joke is usually funny when it has a basis in generalised experiences or actual truth. Irish jokes, mother-in-law jokes, drummer jokes, singer jokes etc. Just about any joke anywhere is capable of offending someone and quite often the funniest jokes that really make you laugh out loud are the ones that play really close to going over the line of offense, and sometimes go a little beyond. You know you shouldn't laugh but you can see from experience that the absurd has a basis in truth.
It's actually funny (in a sad way) that many comedians these days won't perform at many universities due to the growing number of politically correct offense takers. In days gone by it was the university crowd that produced and gave venues to comedians.

wait, why is 'guitard' censored all the sudden? Is 'butthurt' going to be censored next? What about 'carrot'?
Love a good guitarist too..... unfortunately there are a LOT of bad ones out there. Fortunately that gives us plenty of material for humour. I'm sure there are plenty of bass bashing threads on guitar forums as well.
There's even one here on TB

I can see I'm dealing with some high level humorists.
The thread regarding the appropriateness of wearing mariachi outfits for a Halloween show demonstrated how careful one must be when skirting the line between humor and offense. Often there's no clear-cut answer, and that's cool. I think a lot of it comes down to delivery i.e. how clever one is in pulling it off.
I'm not getting a genuinely funny vibe from the pro-tardist contingent. More mean-spirited, and not funny-mean either. Get funnier or give it up. Anything less and you're just being a *ick.
For the record, I dig the term "butthurt". It rarely fails to elicit a chortle.

Exactly, there is no clear cut answer. So why write a post on a humour forum basically trying to shut down a thread by telling people they are wrong to make these jokes. I don't get it.
