My dear friend and great drummer, Colin Bailey, just posted this on his Facebook Page, from our 1984 side "The Dick Hindman Trio. Secret Garden". He wrote this one for Colin and also, on the same double CD, wrote one for me, called "Paulo".

Here is a pair of videos from a concert at the Water Works museum in Boston, with pedal steel legend Susan Alcorn & Jeb Bishop. I am mostly acoustic but have the Upshot with a Clarus 1 with a volume pedal.

I forgot about these! Really great Damon. Here is my last gig with the Boston Pops. I can't tell you how nice it is to play with a full orchestra. All I could think about was those Ray Charles records that I love so much, keeping it simple, ground the orchestra. This is the second time I've played with them and I will say that it is a stellar organization of great players and organizers. Great folks.

Thanks, Susan is a real genius with harmony. In improvised music we use plenty of non-western tuning ideas, but, mainly they are based on letting the various extended techniques preparations be what they are. So, I might play the bass in a more "normal" way but adjust to the altered tuning against a saxophone multiphonic.
My approach to the bass has so much to do with the overtones series that my own playing leans toward "just intonation", but other actual systems of micotonality are tough to get a handle on for improvising.
The pedal steel has is capable of whole new self-contained micotonal systems and she mixes them with standard tuning.
It is an incredible experience to play with her.
