A bit on the unconventional side for this forum, I suppose, but here I am with my NS Design Omni EUB:

I think it might be a flash from a camera!Always amazing what a good drummer can do with a snare drum! How did you get the lights to do that at the end?
Since this thread is popping again, might as well join in! Here's a recording of one my favorite pieces I've written so far with a really great group from my grad recital last year. Feel free to check out the other few things I have up on my channel.
Thanks Damon! This was around the time I started to get more serious with the bow. While I don't miss it, bowing those Animas that were on my bass at the time in that video was a fun challenge. This is really good. The arco on Threnody for Empathy is great as well!!
Here's the trio performing Horace Silver's "Peace"... a fitting sendoff to another 2 weeks of the summer jazz workshops.

The minimal drum set up reminded me of these duos I did on the radio with the great Alvin Fielder, a good friend we lost at the beginning of this year:
They come from all over the place, the history of improvised music plus my own take on it. I tend to put forward small but fully formed ideas rather than unformed bits that are hoping to be "developed".Just a lame question?
Where are you getting those musical ideas, sounds, musical sketches?

I listen to the other musician or musicians and try to find places for my material!
We don't pre-determine form, but, we choose who we play with, the "better" you are at this stuff, the better access you have to musicians who make good decisions. In "normally-flowing" music, you have some template of Form, Development, Variations, all those harmonic, melodic, compositional devices, etc...
Do you pre-establish some Form with other musician/s.
How do you even plan (or know) when to stop the track?
