playing violin parts that go any higher than G5 present real difficulty on the treble viol. I also don't really play treble viol outside of making these recordings, so there's that too.

wrote my own figure bass part for two mandolins as well.

Thanks! I hope we can do something again together soon. I thought Robbie and Jason would be interesting together. (I'm thinking of eventual lying adding Steve Hunt on drums. I always have more potential projects than I could ever hope to book...)

Frescobaldi was a hugely influential figure. Some of his organ works were hand copied by a young J.S. Bach for study. He was also the teacher of Johann Jacob Froberger, an equally influential composer who was studied by Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, and countless others.

this piece is so, so cool. His relationship with dissonance is so particular, so interesting, and so downright cool.

No idea what the original instrumentation would have been for this. He probably was somewhat indifferent to instrument choice, as was common in the 17th century - or he probably would've just played it on an organ.

anyway, this is how I managed to play it, and i think it's super interesting.
