Mosley was on the nod...

I also had a chat with Jerry Garcia once at "The Kinetic Playground" in Chicago, unfortunately not many words were exchanged as we were both peaking at the time. :eek:

Didn't quite open for but I was on the same TV bill with Blondie one night. I was 'playing' bass for Cilla Black.

All the Blondie folks couldn't have been nicer. I got down to the studio a few hours earlier than I needed to be there, just to meet the band. I met Debbie Harry when she came out of the studio eating a big bag of Doritos. I asked could I have a photo. First thing she says is - 'Do I have cheese in my teeth?' For someone that could so easily be a diva I thought was incredibly down to earth.

Later that night, passing time in the green room, I gave Debbie a copy of my bands album. She immediately said - Do you have our new album? As the band were over doing pre-release promo I obviously didn't, so she ran down to her dressing room and got a promo-copy for me and got the other guys in the band to sign it. Talked to her for a little bit and came away feeling like she was my big sister. Cheesy I know but y'gotta love Debbie.

Talked to Clem Burke for a while about him playing with Wayne Kramer, and spoke to Chris Stein at length about his sceptiscism (spl?) concerning raising his newborn child in the US. Very interesting guy for sure. Wanted to know my opinion of living in Europe.

Hehehe, speaking of Everclear, Art Alexakis opened for my bluegrass string band at last year's Index Arts Festival (in Index, WA, a small mountain town in the Cascades). he was backing up a local singer-songwriter he was dating at the time. they got 25min set and 10 people sitting in chairs listening to them, while we got 2hrs and the whole town dancing in the street! :bassist:

back 90s, when i was in LA playing in a "post-gothic rock" band (think Bauhaus, Joy Division with excessive guitar solos), we used to open for many of the bigger names in the "goth/darkwave" scene, including:

London After Midnight, The Last Dance, Christian Death (Valor's version), Gene Loves Jezebel (both versions of the band), Switchblade Symphony, Fields of the Nephilim, Human Drama / Johnny Indovina... names that pretty much mean nothing to anyone not wearing all black and makeup in the 90s. ;)

oh, and we were once on the bill to open for Vixen (remember them, all girl hair metal band from the 80's) for their late 90's comeback tour, but they canceled their reunion.. that would have been a funny show.

my band recently opened for an australian Gothic/Doom metal Band Virgin Black in Toronto. they were all super nice, especially for morbidly depressed people.

what an awesome experience that was.

we're set to open for Chthonic this september, and maybe enslaved with Arsis.

The "missed it my that much" award goes to Queens Of The Stone Age in '98. We were on the bill to open for them, but were informed on gig day that they were bringing their own opener. I guess we can label this under the "before they were huge" heading as well. Got to meet Josh and Nick, pre and post show, and they seemed very genuine. Told them about the mix up, and they were apologetic. VERY nice guys, totally down to Earth and fun to hang with. A very memorable night, and I'm very happy for all their successes since. :D

Back on topic:
Wide Mouth Mason - didn't get to meet them, but we were well received by their fans, and they are incredible players. Tight as all hell.

Noise Therapy - hung out with them briefly after the show, they actually watched our set! Most headliners don't seem to do that, and they were very complimentary.

The Killer Dwarfs - One of the most entertaining groups on and off stage! These guys are SUPER nice, and hilarious people. They brought me on to sing the chorus of Hard Luck Town. :D I was just a kid when I first heard that song, but it was very nostalgic for me. I bought one of their DVD's and they all signed it. Another great night, but a little hazy.........they're also generous with the booze. :)

Jet Set Satellite - I'm good friends with these guys, and they were kind enough to let us open the show to release their latest album. Pretty huge show, great crowd, awesome night.

Not exactly HUGE bands, but they were all great experiences. I don't really have any "horror" stories, but I haven't exactly opened for a lot of big names, either.:smug:

Ha, a fellow `pegger! what band do you play with? Also, You are referring to the show at the Pyramid (I think...its been a long time) (QOTSA) no? That was truly an amazing show and yeah they are hella nice guys, we got our pics with nick and Josh...aahhh good times
