You opened for WHOM???

oh wow, this is an old thread

I posted in this thread a long time ago. At that point, I had opened for Himsa and The End. (I had also played with 3 Inches of Blood and Ion Dissonance around then, but were just getting their starts... )

Since then, Ive supported Bif Naked on a couple tours, shared supporting roles with Hinder, Did the entire 06 warped tour alongside bands like NOFX, Joan Jett, AFI and Helmet, and just saturday opened for Hedley.

I'm sure I've played with a lot of other bands that in a few years I'll ad to this list.

Before I joined the band I am now in they were GOING to open for Ted Nugent

Yes
Ted
****ing
Nugent

But the bassist, being the complete Pete Wentz worshiping "failed gutiarist" that he is, decided that it was better to be something more "normal" and bland like a cubical prisoner or a docter or something then have a shot at fame. So he went to college (I think) a month before the show.

My father opened for Jimmy Hendrix. It was with his band "Hammer"... or maybe it was the band before that "Buffalo". I think Buffalo.

Didn't get to talk to him. At the time Jimi was not huge yet.

Also played at something with Michael Jackson. Pics with Mr. T, Janet, Michael, Tedo are in our photo album. Everyone but me went to see the show with Michael. I was less than a year old.

They got to go to Michaels hotel and hang out.

I get to Play with David Bromberg about twice a month, when he isn't on tour. I play as part of the house band at a blues jam/open Mic with him.

SUPER nice guy, really a good mentor and professor of timing and stage presence. I still have A LOT to learn from him and he is patient. Believe it or not, there are always lots of empty seats and most anyone can play for quite a while. SOme nights are packed but not normally.

I've had the good fortune of opening for some cool bands over the years. Ratdog, The Neville Brothers, Jerry Garcia Band, Alman Bros Band, Hot Tuna, Barbarito Torres (Buena Vista Social Club), Del McCroury, ARU, Sipes Hellborg and Lane, Little Feat, The Meters, Gov't Mule, Derek Trucks, The Radiators, Widespread Panic, Merle Saunders. Also did some shows on HORDE tour which was pretty fun. The coolest thing though was once we were playing a private party for the Furtherfest in Denver. Some guys from The Other Ones and Hot Tuna showed up and wanted to play a set on our gear. We said fine but Jack casady didn't show up so I ended up playing the whole night with them. It was a trip to play some of those songs with , you know, the guys who really play those songs. Oteil sat in with us a few times and man that's intimidating. I resigned myself to sit back and play groove and let him be Oteil.

:bassist: that is great! I want to say I would love that sort of thing to happen...but I bet in reality I would have frozen...:hmm:
