So is it time for the fin de thread posts?
I have one in the form of a distillation of an unwitting "routine" a woman performed
for me just a couple of days ago. She was recounting how she had dated a bassist in a
metal band, and how inscrutable she found the form and the band. She is a black woman
who favors country music, and her recounting was hilarious for the high skepticism she
expressed about the genre, sort of like when Wanda Sykes knows Larry is launching into
BS, but she's gonna try to give him chance to convince her.
She was saying that she went to see the band and they just made lion noises.
She asked for a lyric sheet and brought it to the next gig but it didn't correspond to the lip flap
and lion roars. Country girl at heart.
She tried to hang with his friends, but all they talked about, she said, were "pedals."
"What the hell is a pedal?" she suddenly thought to ask me.
When I had explained, she said there was an event she never understood until now where the singer
misplaced his "Pedal, the T754332," she said with a laugh, riffing. "The band were all depressed
for a few days about the pedal. But then the singer found it, and they were all elated: We've got the
T754332 again!"
She didn't say why the romance didn't pan out. Country and metal, though - bad match.

They are called waitresses or servers. That's their job.
Try a damp microfiber cloth from the dollar store. Neck and strings. If it doesn’t work for you, use it to clean your computer screen.
Let's see, the OP been playing this gig for 19 years, the audience are mainly over 55, would some of the members of an audience want to talk to an old friend? Of, course. Would some of the audience know his music of course. Jimmym is family, and the crowd was raised mainly to be polite.
As I said earlier, the crowd is highly bias, Its my type of crowd, it's Jimmys type of crowd,
Bottom line the crowd is showing love.
I believe over a hundred maybe two hundred people would have gone over to Jimmy to say hello to an old friend if there had been time.

The lesson I learned is I need to change my strings more often
It comes automatically/regularly with my bass-playing. .
I know there are numerous circumstances, but...
When a Musician starts thinking about playing Music as I think about replacing the kitchen's faucet
(because it's leaking) - ... I would call that musician ....Next.
We have duties and obligations to other musicians in the band (when we feel tired).
And, of course, the final BOSS is the Audience!
P.S. It's the most wonderful time of the year! (Shut up, WUTP).

Let's say, in that "aging" crowd (I also belong to that crowd), suddenly you can have some seriously-famous musicians who are visiting their parents/grandparents.
Now, as I've said, I also belong to that "aging crowd"; therefore, I beg you to post your music videos, your performance, and let me take a look at your Music.

Why should I care if YOU care or not. I call your post BS. You had a lot of people notice you changed your strings? BS. I've been playing for over 50 years, so I have my own opinion, but I am not stupid, which is what you suggest.
