Here's mine:
Jazz body, nice 3TS with a little more red than average. Maple.
Precision neck, maple with walnut skunk stripe, ebony fretboard. Medium size frets (21 of them) and big block pearl inlays at frets 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 12, 15, 17, 19 and 21.
SX/Lakland-y shaped headstock, no words. Big 'ol clover tuners (Chrome ones. All chrome hardware). Graphite nut.
Kahler bass trem, probably will have to be countersunk.
Two Darkstar pickups. Black pickguard (Single layer, not b/w/b)
Side mounted jack. Knobs: V/V/T, plus a 4-way pickup switch with series and parallel.
Instead of straplocks, eyelets. I do this to all my basses, lets me attatch straps with carabeeners so I can quickly switch.

I am in the process of getting the parts together right now. It will be my 2nd bass build.

Ash P body in metallic red
Maple P Bass neck
Badass II bridge
SD 1/4 pounder P pickup
SD MM humbucker in the bridge
Black single ply pickguard
Vol/Vol/Tone controls w/ chrome knobs
Strung up with D'Addario flats

What's your dream bass???? Create your own, or choose an existing one that you just don't have the kind of $$$ to buy. Be as detailed as possible.

My L2500 with slightly better balance and no fretline inlays on the fingerboard. A Carvin Bunny Brunel 5-holer without the asymmetrical wide neck (and of course no inlays).

Too cheap to get either at the moment, tho I'm working on a mod for my current L2500 for better balance (trick is making the mod non-destructive).

No preference on woods, finish or appearance, any are fine.

A Gibson Victory Artist in cherry sunburst or a Fender Gold Elite Precision II in cherry sunburst. If I'd go custom then I'd have a Warmoth P-Bass w/ash body in cherry sunburst, rosewood J neck with blocks and binding, P/P pickup combi (Dimarzio), gold hardware, Schaller 2000 bridge, Schaller BMFL tuners, or a Warmoth Jaguar type w/ ash body in cherry sunburst, ebony J neck, gold hardware, Schaller 2000 bridge, Schaller BMFL tuners, 2 double J-type humbuckers, Aguilar preamp.

if i were to make it:

5 string Gibson Les Paul Bass with a 2 piece figured top
chrome tuners
ebony fretboard w/pearl block inlays diamond inaly on headstock (just like an LPcustom)
triple bound body/neck/head in white
2 EBMM humbucker style pickups (active) black with custom black trimrings
no pickguard
SILVERBURST and none of this 2007 bright s#!t, im talkin 1980 old buick leftover paint
leave in the smokers lounge of the atlanta airport for 1 year and serve hot.

factory wise i want a sandberg 5 string jazz..white with block inlays

I would love to have a Peavey MIDI Bass.... just to have it.

My custom build would be in the shape of a leaping frog (gee, what a surprise). The neck would be the legs, and the headstock would be the feet.. I have no idea what the electronics and such will be. At this point, alas, I haven't the money to do it. Today, it's just a dream.

Start with a Rickenbacker 4003 in Jetglo.

Make it a 5 string with true 5 string spacing (19mm, I think?)

Make the fretboard maple, still having the white binding and triangle pearl inlays

Make the neck profile identical to the slim profile on Fender's Geddy Lee Jazz bass signature model. (only wider for a 5 string)

Satin finish on the back of the neck.

Make the body slightly larger (oversized) so it doesn't look weird with a wide neck on it

Since Rickenbacker doesn't have a custom shop and no custom builder would probably make it since they'd risk being sued by the Rickenbacker corp., I guess this one will always be just a dream.

Oh well, don't have the $$$ anyway!!!
