Your Dream Bass

Funny I talked with my tech about (kind of) this the other day; that despite the fact that I have and enjoy Sadowskys and Stingrays and so forth; my favorite bass, and if you held a gun to my head and said "you only get to keep one"; I'd say Fender Precision! So my dream bass would then have to be either:
1) If I can score a vintage one; 1954-1964 (I dig both second generation P and archetype P) or
2) Fender Precision made to my specs by the Custom Shop.
Specs would be: (We can call it: Custom 1963 Precision Bass)
Lightweight ash body, vintage tint maple neck with 1 11/16 nut width, dark rosewood fingerboard with 9.5 inch radius and medium jumbo frets.
Vintage tuning machines and bridge.
Handwound '63 P-Bass pick up.
Color would be hot rod red and pickguard would be mint green. Nitro finish. Vintage blonde case with red plush interior.
BAM! My "signature" bass. ;)

Dream basses: Twins
Two basses built to identical specs, only one is a fretless.

I'm a Spector fanatic, so my dream is two Forte basses. Solid figured maple wings, blank fretboards, custom humbucking pickups in an EMG 35 route, 4 strings, one fretted, one fretless. If the figuring in the maple matched each other, that would be the best.

I've been fortunate enough to have had a few "dream" basses made for me. I also know that there is never going to be one perfect at everything all the time no matter what bass. Every bass will have strengths and weaknesses, its just the way it is no matter how much we might love one specific bass.

That said, I do have one certain dream bass in mind, but unfortunately it will only remain a dream unless Bud LeCompte gets back into building. But hey, I can still dream!

Fender Jazz Bass Ash Body - with only a Precision Pickup route (no jazz bridge route)
Fender Modern C shape Precision Neck (I love my Squier Classic Vibe 60s P neck)
Fender Original 62 Pickups
Labella Jamerson Set Flatwound strings
Vintage Fender Bridge -threaded saddles

Color/pickguard/neck- Roadworn Mocha with Black pickguard, can't decide between rosewood or maple fingerboard.

Gosh..I have two, but If I have to choose one, it would be the ultimate cool PJ for me.

A slab board '59 P bass with a gold aluminum pickguard, a mid to late '63 - early '65 Jazz Bass neck with the body routed for a bridge pick up like a 70's jazz bass (closer to the bridge) and have an old Hi-A pick up in there.

Oh yeah..and medium jumbo frets - not the dinky little frets that came on a Jazz Bass back then.
Throw in a Hipshot D-Tuner for good measure.

I know..I know..it's a terrible thought to route a '59. heh.
I'm not a P guy at all, but I would play the strings off one like this!!! :)
