6 String-Carvin Icon 6 with Piezos-great clear tone. I get lots of compliments on the sound and it seems to be my personal tone these days. Really light, too.
Fretless-Carvin Claro Walnut LB76F-I've had this one for awhile and it just seems to sound better and better. Nice Jaco tone when I need it and a smooth, warm tone when I don't.
5 String-Carvin Sekou Bunch SB5000-a great jobbing bass, pockets great on a General Business gig or Country Session and I can go "Marcus" on it pretty quickly if needed. If I had a do-over I'd probably get the chambered body-swamp ash is heavy!
4 String-Carvin B4-stacked humbucker J pickups make this a very quiet bass. Ash body has a lot of nice mids. Very comfortable neck.
Yeah, I know, I sound like a Carvin commercial, but these are the ones that continually drift into my gig bags these days.....
My current fave (and only option now) is the SB5000. Love my Carvin 5er.
By FAR... Musicman Big Al 5.

Fender Dirnt body (VERY light ash), Fender '51RI neck, Fralin pups, Hipshot tuners, Fender vintage bridge, LaBella flats. Built by me. It's light, plays beatuifully, and is the best sounding P-bass I've ever played.

I think the best I've ever played was a Dingwall Super J with P/J pickups. I wish I'd bought it. The wife would be over it by now...I think. 
I currently own five, but use only three regularly, which I'd rank like this:
1. Fender MIA Jazz, alder/maple, 2003, with noiseless Lindy Fralin Split-Jazz pickups and Hipshot drop-tuner. It's been my number one since I bought it new in 2003. It's an amazing example of the breed, and covers everything.
2. G&L USA SB-2, 2007. So close to the Fender that it's almost a "co-number one." Blows away my MIA Precision IMO, and has the best playability of all my basses.
3. G&L USA JB, alder/rosewood, 2010, with DiMarzio Area J pickups. In some ways, this is a step up from my Fender J, and I expect to like it more and more over time. It has slightly better playability IMO, especially in the lower frets. The Fender still feels more familiar though, and I prefer its maple fretboard, but this G&L's fretboard is about the best rosewood I've ever seen. It's essentially a boutique quality J-bass, but heavier than any boutique I've tried -- and, of course, much less expensive. Really, I wouldn't mind having a couple more of these beauties.

My favourite bass hasn't been invented yet, because bass manufacturers suck.
A 27 fretter 5 or 6 with an interesting body shape, for example. Why is stuff like this so hard? There's plenty of that sort of stuff for guitars, like this for example:

But no, basses HAVE to be the boringest shape possible, with the same old boring paint and the same old boring features. :sigh:

Ridiculous.
For the last couple of years my Dingwall Afterburner I takes top spot until I can afford a Super J 5 !
I was all over my 2 ibanez BTBs for a while, but i bought an SR706 a few weeks back, and thats basically all ive played since. Its got a great combination of features, comfort and is easy to play despite being a 6 string. Ive been looking into another SR, but its hard to beat the 706 right now.
I stupidly sold my Ibanez SR505, went through a bunch of other basses, and ended up back with a new SR755. I prefer it over the slew of Warwick's I've owned; lots of character and, despite my initial assessment, pretty versatile. Easily the most comfortable bass for me to play.

Dingwall ABII the best bass i have ever played, and i own it along with a Dingwall Combustion, but i do have soft spot for the westone thunder III which i sold years ago, maybe rose tinted on that one.
What are the salient differences between the Afterburner and Combustion? Kinda looking hard at the AB section.
