My favourite bass hasn't been invented yet, because bass manufacturers suck.![]()
A 27 fretter 5 or 6 with an interesting body shape, for example. Why is stuff like this so hard? There's plenty of that sort of stuff for guitars, like this for example:

But no, basses HAVE to be the boringest shape possible, with the same old boring paint and the same old boring features. :sigh:

I actually disagree. Sure, most basses you see on stages are Fender P's and J's with 4 strings. But similarily Strats, Teles and Les Pauls rule the guitar world. But especially in the boutique world, to me it seems that bass manufacturers have much more different body shapes and more experimental instruments with infinite combinations of different woods, strings, electronics and construction solutions. But this might be only my feeling.
