Pedulla Buzz is the best fretless out there ... In my opinion ...

Carvins are also pretty good, and I played a 6 string fretless Ibanez that was suprisingly good.

While fretless Fender Jazz (and Precision) basses certainly have a classic sound (Jaco anyone?), and the Pedulla Buzz is great, in my opinion nothing beats a Rob Allen. I think that (possibly) not enough TBers have had a chance to play these.

There are many great fretless basses out there, however, my Zon basses are my current choice.

I can't say I have ever seen an 8 string fretless before. Do you have any soundclips?

I play Warwick Corvette (unlined) fretless 5 string, but sure voted for Fender fretless Jazz. Best lined fretless ever to me.

I picked F Bass AC6. As far as fretless basses go, I've had a Pedulla Buzz, Pedulla PentaBuzz, 2010 Fender American Standard Jazz Fretless, and an FBass AC6. The Pedullas were fantastic instruments, but I sold them when I got the Fbass. I got the Fender to help alleviate excess practice wear on the Fbass, but it's a great little bass, really the "standard..." Here are some pictures. BTW, the Jazz is currently for sale in the classifieds...
