Your favorite high gain fuzz/distortion?

I still like my Team Awesome Fuzz Machine. Solo it isn't necessarily the heaviest thing but it works well in a mix for me better than some of my favorite soloed tones (Green Muffs and clones, B:Assmaster etc) have.

modified HM2 for bass. getting a perfect Jack Bruce tone.

Modified how? Love HM-2s, but currently use an Arion Metal Master on bass since they seem to retain the lows better.

1. Big Muff (kit build) black russian with mids boost switch. Thick meaty fuzz with less scoop due to the mids switch. My go to fuzz/disto tone.

2. Superfuzz (kit build) with tone pot (instead of vintage correct tone 2 position switch) When only nasty will do. It has thos subtle upper octave and is snarly and uncivilized.

3. Cheapo chinese turbo rat. More throaty then the muff, but less defined on the low end. I really want to try a blower box, dunwich volt thrower, or Cat tail.

I like my MXR Sub Octave Bass Fuzz, Wampler Low Blow, MXR Bass Blowtorch, Pigtronix Bass Fat Drive. The grit knob on my Pigtronix Philosopher Compressor is pretty nifty, too.

At the moment it is the “clawthorne” model (wounded paw battering ram) on my HX Stomp... If I were to move away from the Stomp I would definitely buy one of the real thing...

If I have to stick to one, it's be the Dunwich ODB (mine is the 125b version if that makes a difference). That said, I run it at mid-to-low gain and always with a Broughton Terraformer in front of it for grindier sounds, and my high gain sound is a Fuzzrocious Demon in front of that combination. The end result is very similar to if I just ran the ODB at high gain (not surprising since the Demon and ODB are both OCD variants), but I prefer the flexibility of running the stack.

I love my Malekko Diabolik, a super usable yet downright rascally contraption that never fails. It sounds like being roasted by a space laser while taking a bubble bath. It's also comically loud which I find endearing.

If I want a monster stoner-style muff-type, it's the Frantone Cream Puff. If I want to blend a clear dry signal through with plenty of fuzzy rasp, the Prescription Electronics Depth Charge.

i made the lows deeper, separated the mid & high controls and added a booster to the output.
it does both low gain and super high gain now.

My Blower Box is my favorite distortion. But when it comes to high gain specifically, my JohnK Triple Wreck clone is pretty hard to beat.

HM2 clone has been my jam lately. Run into an overdrive makes it nice and chunky with a particularly cool tearing sound that sort of pops up but only on my B string.

Just found this video on youtube.....the HM2 sounds KILLER! Who makes a modded, bass appropriate HM2? Anyone try the Dunwich version on bass?
