Not the GLS braided 20 footer I recently got. Geez, I was hoping it would be tangle resistant, and it's the worst one I've got in that respect. Guess I'll go back to making my own.

I've been using Sommer cables for several years now.
The guy who built my cabs uses them and suggested I should give it a go.
Much better sounding than the average cables I used before, actually almost a day and night difference (more highs, more direct and punchier tone, the old cables in comparison sounded almost muddy) and extremely well built, very reliable, have never let me down.

Never heard of those ebs cables until now. Just searched - I like how those connectors are smaller than the Hosa. Gonna check them out when I need to get more patch cables.

GC LiveWire or equivalent. The important thing is they have to be color-coordinated to the bass.
I use Mogami on my pedal board and Lava Tweed for practice from bass to board, live I go wireless to my board.

No problem. Not too many places have them, but www.bassstringsonline.com has a decent price on them, if he still has any in stock...
My favorite instrument cable is a 20' Mogami with the SilentPlug device on the instrument end. Heavy, flexible and has held up for a very long time. Also, the SilentPlug makes swapping basses a breeze.

The one that has been the best long term is one I made over 20 yrs ago with computer cable with foil shield and Switchcraft ends, with about 3 in shrink tubing for strain relief, had to cut about an inch off and resolder the right angle end after several years after the center conductor broke at the solder point, still use it. Maybe cost 5 bux and 15 min.

Beats me what I use. They are black and have a piece of orange electrical tape on one end. Instrument cables have red velcro, and speaker cables have green velcro. I broke a few over the years, but resoldering generally solves the problem as long as they aren't molded ends. So, that's my criterion - fixable ends. Occasionally a conductor will break. Then they get retired to the trash can.
WHAT: I've been using the same pair of Monster 500 series "bass cables" for around 20 years or so. (12ft & 21ft)
WHY: Because they still work and never give me any issues.

I have a supply of Rapco cables because that is what our local shop carried, and the price was fair.
Good wire, with Switchcraft or Neutruk plugs.
I had one fail, sent it to the company, they sent me a new one.
Other than that one, no problems at all and some are coming up on 20 years old.

For a while in the 90's and early 2000's you could just swap them out at any GC, no questions asked. Those were definitely the good old days.
Now I want to get away from Monsters because of the oversized 1/4" plugs, but they last so long it's going to take decades for them all to wear out.
While entirely anecdotal, I do have 3 different pedal boards, and I have had more failure with the EBS than with Hosa Pancakes. And I have more Hosa pancakes wired up. Still nothing is as slim as the EBS.
Rapco Road Hogs. I have several that I've used the past 13 years. I've stepped on them and pulled them and have never had one short out, they're all still in use today.
