Seeing all these classic albums covers has reminded me of an album that I bought as a kid in the 70's. The style of music was Prog Rock"ish" with a similar overtones to that of Jethro Tull or even a bit Gryphon'y' or Camel'ish'. The album depicted what I remember to be a sort of middle ages picture of matchstalk men and old houses and was very brown and yellow looking..Similar to the colours on Broadsword and the Beast by JT. Its been doing my head in for the past few years and I know it's a real long shot..However any ideas??

It's Roger Dean...he also did a couple of Uriah Heep covers (Demons & Wizards, The Magician's Birthday).
For Xmas, I got an album cover book by Roger Dean...looking at the covers in that book certainly brought back some memories.
A cool one is Blind Faith's debut. A young girl is supposed to be Eve-like...but holding a jet airplane/"technology" (not an apple).

My mom had that album. Curiously, it was missing the rolling paper also.

F-bombs, bloody naked people, etc. I understand it's art with these album covers but I'm going to ask for some rule clarification here.

edit: album covers are not immune. I get that they are art, but at the same time we all have to abide by the TB rules.

I will open the thread again. Please, no profanity, no naked blood or honey covered people, etc. posted images, even if they are album covers, are not exempt.

So, for those of you who are old enough to remember or cool enough to still have any of these in your collection:

What was your favorite LP 33 1/3 vinyl record album sleeve design? Which of the gatefolds, artwork, inserts, or other gimmicks stand out in your mind as the most creative?

Man, I miss those days. I can hardly read the tiny print on CD covers and liner notes of today.

A few of my favorites:

Electric Light Orchestra Out Of The Blue double LP (gatefold, punch out and assemble spaceship insert)

The Beatles White Album full-sized poster and four smaller headshots of each band member

The Raspberries (self-titled debut) scratch-and-sniff cover, you get one guess what it smelled like

Bonus Points if you still have any of the ones mentioned in this thread in your personal collection (I own a copy of all three of the above).

All of the early Santana cover especially this one...
