HAHAHA! That is great. I'd never seen that one before. Look how many eyes they had to blank out to keep from getting sued for lack of permission to use the image. That is hilarious.
Actually, the "historic significance" of Sgt. Pepper is the first LP cover to feature full printed lyrics to all songs.

I actually bought this album in '69 just because of the cover, I had never heard of King Crimson before....and I'm one of the biggest Crimson freaks there is now! I grab everything I can get my hands on, a lot of the Discipline Live Series are awesome....but I digress..
To all those who wonder, yeah I got that LP in my collection.

I'd have to rank Cream's Disraeli Gears album cover right up there. It was a perfect reflection of music and popular culture in the late 60's.
My parents gave me Abraxas on my 12th birthday (in 1970 or so). For some reason, my mom didn't seem bothered by the artwork. Years later, I found out the title of the piece was "The Anunciation".
...ya got the angel Gabriel, the Madonna, etc.
Oh. it's still erotic. Porn sites take away the mystery. Imagination is much better.

In my opinion, a not-to-be-overlooked part of this album's greatness. Very classy and a clever use of the "Moving Pictures" idea (guys "moving pictures", woman crying because of the "moving pictures" and a film crew shooting a "moving picture").
