The thing about @two fingers threads... at least I can find people my own age to play with. 
The 80's... yeah man. Class of '87. Totally... knew who I was, and what I was doing. Took another 10 years for the wheels to come off the wagon of reality.
Lemesee... Lindsey Buckingham quit/got fired from Fleetwood Mac right before the "Tango" World Tour. Then he did it again last year. Thanks alot for the 2 × 0 Buck. Not that I don't agree your ex-girlfriend is still a dish-throwin' psycho in 2020 and I wouldn't be want to be on the road with her for a year either. I still woulda' come to the show.
The non-dish-throwin' girlfriend I had... we're still friends. Almost 40 years going on now. What's that?

A lot of the music I came to love came out of the 80's. Rock, metal, alternative, industrial, all kinds of good stuff going on, then. The 90's were a disappointment, but not as bad as the 2000's. The 00's were just awful. Anyway, I lived in the sticks, and had to get ahold of music in roundabout ways. I had a friend who got ahold of dubbed copies of Powell-Peralta skate videos and the like. We used to copy music off those tapes, which is how we got to hear bands like The Descendants and TSOL.
Being as I lived out in the sticks, there was a lot Camaro and Firebird driving, acid washed jean jackets, dangly earrings, mullets, and those hats with the feathery clip things. Lots of Warrant fans. I don't know how much I of that I miss, although I'd like to find one of those acid-washed 3/4-length denim coats.
Something I miss that wasn't stuff-related was the fact that things were looser in general. I remember riding from Wisconsin out to Arizona all the way in the back of a pickup truck with an aluminum cap on it, sitting in a short lawn chair. Gas was way cheaper, which was nice.

I bought my Steinberger bass in January 1984 and it is leaning against my office desk right now. I will be playing it at my gig tonight.

We went to the game when they played Seattle. I brought mine, still in the box, and found Dominique during the pregame shoot around. He signed them for me.

Even though I had access to a friend’s 1/2” 80-8, I gave this quite a workout, learned quite a few recording tricks, and that stuff still sounds great(still have it, just refurbished it to go thru my old tapes for archiving). My repair guy told me the hipster kids are picking up on old Portastudios(the big ones)and using them now. He said he’s fixing up more of those now than back in the day, but really doesn’t have to do much.
They’re still fetching as much as $600, but $400 seems to be the real world price.
