Your favorite vocalist...

I just scrolled through 8 pages and he was never mentioned. There have been and are so many wonderful voices. But, as in the Highlander there can be only one. IMHO the Reverend Al Green is the only one. He makes me smile on my worst day and makes me feel to the very core of my soul. Thank you Al.

K.D. Lang is great. So much more soul than half the divas out there who are much more famous. Another fantastic singer from Canada is Kim Richardson. Incredible, but she's stayed local (Montreal) so no one outside the city really knows who she is. I went to see Chaka Khan a few years ago at the Montreal Jazz Festival. When I exited the venue Kim was playing a free show outside and for me there was no comparison. Kim Richardson is one of the few singers who can choke me up with the soulfulness of her voice.

I'll second that. Her mom, Jackie, is no slouch either and we get to see her down here in Halifax on a regular basis. Now that you've reminded me, I've just put on Jim Hillman's "The Merlin Factor" with Kim singing. She's really something.

Peter Gabriel

I put on “So” a week or two ago and I couldn’t listen to it. My 4 year old daughter watched the Disney money “Tarzan” on repeat for like a week when she was sick a couple months ago, where the soundtrack was done by Peter Gabriel, and it totally killed him for me, hopefully that fades, but when I hear his voice all I can think of is Tarzan.
