Oh Kathy....what a dream list. Right on.
I miss Eric Woolfson...RIP.
I have a real weakness for clean, melodic female voices over heavy music. These two have bands have been my ear worms for a while. Beautiful, talented ladies
Aretha, first and foremost. Then Peter Gabriel and Chris Cornell.
Ronnie James Dio
Joe Williams. No one else like him.
Paul McCartney. Super under-rated as a vocalist (Beatles)
Art Garfunkel and Paul Simon (in that order)
Zack De La Rocha (Rage Against the Machine)
Freddie Mercury (Queen)
Brian Wilson (The Beach Boys)
Chris Cornell (Audioslave)
That would be Ann Wilson of Heart.
Saw several people say Karen Carpenter...her voice always killed me. So melancholy and great.
Went to see Elton JOhn last week and have to say - the dude is getting a little older and fatter (aren't we all) but his voice is still epic.
So, Sir Elton John on #2.
#1: James Taylor for being such a fantastic story teller.
(The rest are in no particular order)
Impossible to name one....but I'll name two that I love and whose names I don't think I've seen in the thread so far. Both fairly recent artists even though I'm a geezer.
Male - Paul Carrack
Female - Emmylou Harris
Amazing, your first male and female were my top two as well. Great minds et al
