Reading this thread, I realized just how many good basses are available off production lines for around 1000.
My favorites are...
Rickenbacker and Skyline

I would have said carvin, but since no two carvins are usually allike I really don't consider them production line instruments.

Peavey Cirrus!! My Cirrus instruments completely smoke the Warwicks and Roscoes that I used to own in build quality, sound and comfort. Everybody has their personal tastes ; for me it's all Cirrus all the time!
