Your favourite unknown bassist?

the Fred Smith from Television?

You know it, baby. Played on a few Television post-projects. Richard Lloyd and Tom Verlaine don't speak, but Fred Smith and Billy Ficca seem to pop up on a lot of their solo stuff.

I always like Fred Smith; he has a good, like I said, "bouncey" feel to what he played. He turned down Blondie to be in Television. How awesome is that?

So awesome one lone dude at six in the morning has something to say about it.

I Really Really Really like the guy from He Is Legend
... I dont even know his name, but he is phenomenal. And He is one of those players that you just have to listen to his albums to appreciate his stuff because there really are not pinpoint tracks where he is showing off the whole time, but the way that he locks in with the drummer is definately under appreciated.

....And I think the bassist from The Dillinger Escape Plan is really underrated for his exceptional talent.

The guy from Consider The Source....This guy is incredibly technical but really musical with his technicality which is really hard to do in my opinion.
check this out. Consider The Source - Blue Steel 7/8/09 - YouTube

and this bass teacher from london named Nim Sadot...
check this video out Mike Stern - Play - Cover by Nim Sadot - YouTube
I actually think that this guy is on TB...Im not sure though.

ME!!!

Actually, my favorite would be a bassist on YouTube who does Rush bass covers. I really like his bass tone (I wish I knew how he did it!). This is one of my favorites:

Caravan Bass Cover - YouTube

His sound is basically the Geddy Jazz with fresh rounds and he pick the strings with his finger tips/ nails, and quite fast attack. That tone can be obtained with a Sansamp BDDI among other options.

Freddie Mooney [ and I am not saying he's the guy I refer to in many of my posts, who introduced me to Acoustic 361, Rotosound Swing bass 66 or Rickenbacker 4001]

Roy Cox: Bubble Puppy/ Demian. I prefer Demian. Cox on bass and vocals; very under rated.

Barrry Dunaway: Formerly from many Atlanta bands, followed by a stint with Malmsteen. When Barry was in Atlanta, he played a MM bass through [unknown] amp into a JBL Sugar Scoop, with a JBL 2x10 for highs. He got every tone imagineable as I recall; one of the few bass players I could listen to; wail away for hours all without 8 finger diddle-daddle; although I am sure he mastered that while with Malmsteen.

Wyzzrd from Mother's finest. If you love funk, your journey has ended and he's a nice guy, too.
