mine (bright red encore precision, very old) is in my workshop right now, undergoing fingerboard replacement (switching to maple for old school looks), truss rod inversion, hardware and electronics replacement. hopefully will be good enough to beome my #1 bass again when its out of the surgery

haha, oh yes....that or christmas, I'm going to try to get him an old red/black pg gibson sg.
I am currently de-fretting and upgrading my Phoenix brand p-bass knock off.
it has a decent neck and fret board for a cheap as bass.
i bought a brand new emg p pup of the bay for $30au including postage, some knock off black fender style clover leaf tuners $3oau including postage, fender 52 reissue pbas pots $24au including postage, and im going to get a new bridge off the bay and some black knobs and then im going to need some black flatwounds and my bro is gonna pinstripe the body for me.(hes a sign writer and damn good with an airbrush)

My first bass is a Hamer Chapparal US 5 str (EMG loaded) that I still have. It 's a great bass and I love playing it still (mainly for 80's songs that require an old style sound)
1963 Hofner Artist bought for £15.00 in 1970 with a 1963 Dallas President amp thrown in. I wonder how many of those were sold with a name like that. Neither worked but I had the Hofner sorted out in 1990 with a new nut and Kent Armstrong rewinds on the original staple pickups and I still use it. It's got the slimmest neck I've ever seen and sounds great. I've still got the amp as well but that's still kaput
Bought my 1st bass brand new in 1977. A burgundy glow 4001 for $375.00 including shipping. Got divorced in 1989 and had to pawn it for like $200.00. Not a day goes by I dont cry about that. 
Mine was a '75P my parents bought new for me in '76 when I was 12. Around 81 I discovered Jaco, pulled the frets, put in Bartolini Jazz pickups, a Badass, and all that other dumb stuff we did in the late 70s/early 80s. Sold it to my bass teacher to fund my first Warmoth 5 string around '82.
Bought it back from him 15 years later (for the same $400 I was paid for it - What a guy!) and did my best to put it back to as close to stock as possible. Now it has frets, a 73P pickup and SD Antiquity II J pickup, stock bridge, no brass nut, original machine heads, etc. Whattya know, it kicks butt! Wish I'd left it alone in the first place...
Never to be sold again, that's for sure.

I've still got my black Ibanez GSR200. It was about a year ago that I got it. I haven't done much to it, but it is still my primary bass. I have a Dean acoustic that doesn't get used very much, mostly because the strings feel weird, and I just picked up a Squier P Bass that I'll be working on (new pickups, pick guard, bridge, tuners, etc), so I'm looking forward to that. I'm also tempted to get something of higher quality. I love my GSR200 and I don't ever plan on letting it go. I suppose I would pass it on to my future kids if they decide to take up the bass, but maybe not.
1976 3tone sunburst short scale harmony.my dad bought it with and harmony amp,from sears for me for christmas.Don't have either of them anymore,but i have pics some where of me playing the bass.
A brand new '83 Fender P Bass. Black with a black pickguard and rosewood fingerboard. I still have it and the Peavey TNT 130 amp I bought the same day.

My first bass was an Ibanez GSR 200. I didn't sell it even though someone wanted to buy it. The jack socket was jammed in the last time I had it. I didn't sell it or give it away, but I cant seem to find it. Its like it disapeared.
