Your go to strings

The only strings I use on my Ric 4003, and a USA Geddy Lee Jazz, D'Addario ETB92 Nylon Tapewounds.

I love the fender and d'addario nylon tapewounds. last forever, almost no fretwear, also preserve my fretless fretboard.

I was pleasantly suprised by DR Black Beauties:

Doesn't feel or sound like any other coated strings I've used.

The coating is definitely there, you can feel it, but just barely. And they sound great to my ears. A little pricey, but if you want strings that last and don't have the drawbacks of other coated strings, they are worth a try.

And they look damn cool since the coating is entirely black for the full length of the string.

Switched last year to DR Black Beauties and love them. Nice and punchy and you can't kill them.

recently got a set of black beauties... like them quite a bit for somewhere in between tapewound and normal strings.

I also like rotosound and ernie ball when I want to do some more gritty slap pop or go for that rock/rick/pick sound.

After a few years of playing TI jazz rounds exclusively I’m incapable of playing anything else. I like everything about them.
Gorn, what gauge are your using with the TI jazz on your bass? I bought a set a few months ago to put on my jazz bass and after 15 minutes they were gone and replaced with other strings. I couldn't stand the tension (better, the lack of tension), it was like playing with slinky's no tension to them. I heard so much good things about TI, there must be something I'm missing...

Sadowsky Bright Blue Nickels... Love these on all my basses for the last several years. Bright enough, good growl, smooth feel and last. Swap them out about every 6 months or so. Want to try some DR Sunbeams. I think I'd like them. Before that was using Sadowsky Bright Black Steels and Rotosounds before that.

I use T-I Jazz Flats on all my basses. They never disappoint- they are the smoothest, with low tension and they still manage to sound great on all my basses. I’ve tried several other brands of Flats and these are the best by a mile.

I was a dedicated Rotosound RS66 user for a long time. I loved how they sounded. After some experimentation with D'addario XL Nickels, GHS Boomers and several bouts with a variety of EB Slinkys, I decided to try the Rotosound Nickels. They have been my favorite by far. The top end and mid punch typical of Rotosounds, but with the pillowy low end typical of Nickels like Slinkies. I've also tried ProSteels, DR HighBeams and DR Black Beauties. Still nothing holds a candle to the Rotosound Nickels in my opinion. It's too bad that they are getting harder to find and acquire. Will likely try DR Low Rider Nickels next to see how similar they are to the Rotosound Nickels.
