Band rule #9.2 - You can never have too many black shirts. All styles and types.

I agree - the band should look like THE BAND. Another bunch of old guys in cargo shorts and aloha shirts and sunglasses..... pthtbthtbbbb.
Think hats, vests, scarves, boots, ties. Other things that work for me: corsets, hose, skirts and sparkly stuff. People always tell me I look great at gigs, and I'm a fat girl. :) There is no excuse for having bad "gear" on your body. The public wants to dance, but they also want to be dazzled. Ask a lady friend to help out if you need some tips. Style adds tone in the public ear.

NOOOOOOO. Black shirts make most band dudes look like stereotypical generic artistic/nonconformist/creative types.

Plus I think you can never have enough color.

Now, if I really had money to burn I'd get some suits like Yuri da Cunha has...

When did bands start dressing like they just walked in off the street, or just got out of bed? I miss the days when the groups I went to see at least looked better than the audience. :D

My band must think I nuts, even at 59 I still try to look the part.

It's not only about what you wear. It's the presence that you give. Energy makes a huge difference. What you wear and the energy that you put into your performance is sort of a magic potion..overdoing one part ruins the whole thing, and same with underdoing something.

Oh, and buzzing all your hair off definitely makes you look more badass ;)

Youth and being genetically attractive always looks good.

If that clip is your band, you all look fantastic and famous.

Amen! I always dress up a bit - Fender guitar shirt, Hawaiian shirt...but not like I just came in from changing the oil and filter in my car.

I don't see the problem with that. But my issue is just that so many bands put absolutely no thought into their stage wear. They wear the same thing on stage as off. I don't think they should dress up like clowns :D, but I do think looking good should be as much a priority as the music.

Agreed. It never hurts a band to be better dressed than the audience. If you're a punk band, you can always be wierder than the audience - but a flannel shirt over an old T-shirt and three-day-old jeans don't cut it.

Depends on the gig. I have a $90 shirt that I wear to some gigs (private parties). If I wore that to certain bars that we play I might be in a fight by the end of the night.

So basically, try to 'look' like you belong.
