Your Look On Stage

Typically whatever I would normally wear, some combination of Jeans/cargo pants and a decent shirt, sometimes adding and unbuttoned dress/plaid shirt/jacket if it is cold/ect on top of all that.

Nothing Fancy unless it actually is something facny. Then a suit/something with a tie will do.

I have my own atonal improv/chamber jazz gig coming up soon. 46 years old, 230 lbs, 6 foot. T-shirts is the common stage uniform in that scene. Hmm. I was thinking my black Motorhead t-shirt (but that might look SOOO williamsburg-ironic/pretentious). Plus I've always wanted to see someone play hyper serious music in drag on heels, not sure if that someone would have to be me.

What's a good shirt color with the maple-toned beauty on the left? Invalid Link Removed

Jeans and a sports jersey: football, hockey, baseball, or basketball. Usually goes along with whatever season is going on at the time. Sports and rock go well together, plus I just like wearing them.

Back in the day though...all black, silver ring on each finger usually depicting skulls, wolves and pentagrams, black and silver studded belt, spiked wrist bands, dangling cross earring and black boots. :o

If I did that now, apart from probably laughing at a 49 year old man dressing like that, people would mistake me for a Raiders fan. :D

When I look at all my favorite professional bands, I see them wearing pretty normal clothes, and when I look at most local, amateur bands, they are wearing silly clothes or costumes, or are overdressed (which is fine for jazz or wedding/corporate bands, but I don't go to those shows). That's one of the things that tell me immediately what the level the band is when I walk into a club. If they are wearing 60s costumes, suits, goofy clothes, etc, I'm walking out. May be a generalization, but that's the way I am.

Us at our last gig. We are working on a general rock themed clothing. Similar colors (blacks, whites, and reds usually). I have a fairly conservative hair cut that I can do in a couple different styles, or it lays flat and nobody notices it. We are working on looking a little more rock without being fake.

Last gig the singer wore a plaid orange, blue and white shirt with khakis... so we took some band money and bought him some decent jeans. Still working on that a bit.

Thanks for the tips Pklima, I tried it at practice today, not bad...

So for our look on stage I guess it will be pretty standard street attire(rock band), Nice pants, shoes, shirts etc. but we're all going to incorporate something red to accent the look. So for me it will be dark skinny jeans, white and black Chucks with red laces, white t-shirt with red and black graphic and sans shirt later in the show. We talked about it for all of 5 minutes at practice today.

We might do all red cables since none of us are running wireless yet. I'm going to use red poster board to cover the blue strip on the Acoustic 810 and it will have the band name or acronym in black. Thoughts?

My main band is an 80s-alternative-new wave cover band, and we have tended to wear dark pants with subdued dress shirts and ties, which gives us a uniform look, but is also painfully close to what I wear to work every day:

Recently, I decided to bite the bullet and get myself some no-tomfoolery stage wear, so I picked up a few suits in vivid colors: white, purple, and red, with some similarly brightly-colored shirts and ties, and a pair of bright white shoes. Besides being well-received by bandmates and audiences, I'm amazed at how I feel different when wearing them. It's like, "I'm dressed as a performer now; better PERFORM!"

No pics yet, but there's a gig in a few weeks which may see the debut of the purple suit.

This is the new look I'm trying out, maybe fits the dark club scene better than full-on tiedye and ridiculous colors. . .opinions?

I wear the same stuff on stage as I do every day.

In the summer, Gym shorts, cut off cammie shorts, and a cut off t shirt with whatever I have for foot wear.
In the winter, Tight jeans, Flannel and t-shirt, and probably boots.

I'm in an all original rock band.

Black cowboy boots, black pants, Western Shirts, T-shirt and silk western vest. Then a purple silk Jacket, blue sparkle suit jacket, feather bowwas a la T-Rex snake skin pants. Basically anything that sets me off from what the crowd will be wearing. How many times have I said "who goes to hear a band, I go to see a band".
