I am not taking anything away from Verlander. He is a beast, and I fully expect him to walk away the AL Cy Young this year. He's easilly one of the best pitchers, if not THE best, currently active in baseball. He's a first-ballot, hall-of-famer, and a total class act.

That being said, the Giants didn't just get lucky. The Tigers got beat by the Giants, plain and simple. Panda looked comfrotable during his at bats. He wasn't swinging randomly. He read those pitches and crushed them.

The rest of the batters fought long and hard against all of Detroit's pitching staff. Like during the regular season, the Giants got offensive help from the entire line-up. Zito and Lincecum had great outings.

I know it is only Game 1, and we still have to win 3 more, however the tone of the Sports Media was that the Tigers have the ring in the bag. Apparently, the Giants didn't get that message.

Yeah, Verlander gets about as much respect as Lebron James and Kobe Bryant sometimes. He is a great pitcher but again, big names sell ratings and that's what you get when you watch a big network broadcast a big game.

You pinch hit when you need an advantage against a pitcher and switch a pitcher when your starter's getting tired or you need an advantage over a batter.

Either or, the Giants are a good team and are looking to repeat as WS Champs. The Tigers, however, are a good team too but just need to put some hits together to get men around the bases and also need to get Valverde's head out of wherever it's at. Benoit looked better in his outing and Albuquerque looked really good after he relieved Verlander. We'll see what happens tonight. If I was there or you were here the beer would be on me, that is if you drank beer at all. If not, milk's on me.

Yes the Giants are hot right now, but we all know that those streaks can change in a heart beat. The Tigers are a great team it is no fluke that they have made it this far. Neither team can ever let up or it will be over.

Yep. Plenty of good baseball still to be played, by two really, really good teams.

And to Chuck Norris - Giants did the right thing when they found out about Melky, and distanced themselves. They could have taken him back when he served his suspension, and didn't.
He cheated, he cheated the team and the fans as well. Very sad, and very stupid, and it will cost him, as it should.

Yes, it does get to me some times but I do my best to not let anyone steal my joy from watching good baseball. And they delerious craziness of the Giants in another World Series.

I read an interview with Joe Buck, he says fans from every team think he is biased against thier teams. He says he even hears it in St. Louis. He attributes it to the fact that people are used to hearing their home town announcers.
Celebrate the Giants and ignore the naysayers. I have 2010 World Series pennant right in front of me that says no one can take away our victory in 2010 and winning the NL in 2012.

His comment about it was great, something like "My dad always said that if I got hit in the head I'd be fine, and I am". Tough player, and I'm glad he's OK.

That was how the Giants do well. Great pitching, great defense, get on base and be agressive. I noticed Scutaro wasn't wearing his eye shade last night and he also wasn't hitting , someone tell him to put it back on.

I think Scherzer is pitching tomorrow at home. He was #2 in K's in the AL and probably the 2nd best pitcher in our rotation behind Verlander. We'll also be playing AL rules so that gives us one more quality AB in the line up as well. It's never over until the last out of the series.

I wonder who we are going to put in as DH. Probably Arias, Theriot or Sanchez.

That makes so much sense to me.

And Cap - yep, if anyone knows that a series ain't over until it's over, it's Giants and Giants fans. Detroit is too good a ball club to rule out. Scary hitters, and the AL rules will make that more of a factor.
But the Giants starters picked a good time to right their ship.
