Big payrolls do not equal championships. Sometimes it works but I've seen too many awesome Yankee and Red Sox lineups fail miserably in the post season. It has everything to do with the chemistry of the team and getting hot at the right time. In other words, it's luck with some good line up changes and a strong pitching staff. IMO, IME, YMMV.

It's on, baseball season is in full swing (pun intended):hyper:
My Giants look pretty good. Pence has found his stroke, I expect Brandon Belt to come into his own this year and Sandoval should have a good year unless he gets too big to play ball. The startingg pitching looks good except for Lincecum, it don't think "The Freak" will ever return. And of course we should have Buster Posey all year barring injuries. The Dodgers will be tough and I don't underestimate Phoenix or Colorado either. I think the Nationals will be the team to beat in the National league this year.
I love turning on my radio and hearing the voices of John Miller an the other announcers. Yaaay for summer and baseball! Go Giants!

Dodgers aren't off to the start I was hoping for, and some of the big talent (Kemp and Beckett, most noteably) is still stuggling to shake off the cobwebs, but I'm confident that they'll find their stride soon and be a serious contender. Kershaw is off to a fine start with a complete-game shutout against the Giants in his first outing, and another 7 innings of shutout ball in his second start. Crawford is doing what we hoped with a great batting average and speed on the bases. Gonzales is also swinging the bat well and making things happen. I'm expecting a season-long battle with the Giants for the top spot in the Division.

I hope so too. I like the rivalry and it's even better when both teams are doing well. I have a lot of respect for Kershaw not only is he a great ballplayer I also think he is a class guy. It was painful when he beat us with his bat for crying out loud. Still he is a Dodger and I hate him. ;)
Got to go to my first game last night. Lincecum stunk the place up. He's throwing in the low 80's and can't find the plate. People are taking batting practice off him. The Giants managed a great come from behing victory anyway. :hyper: Something I don't think they could have done two years ago.

Beckett... BAHAHAHA. I'm sorry. But I was so incredibly happy when Beckett got shipped off. With that said, he usually has a good year every other year. Give him a little time and he'll maybe round into form.

Is there anything to Posey actually disliking Timmyjim?

I miss L.A. And one of the biggest reasons was the Dodgers with... 85 wins. Year after year. Not quite good enough to get a playoff spot, but fun to watch. And the Manny got shipped out to L.A and they were good for a while. They'll do fine. Gonzalez is hot right now. He's not very streaky, but when he is it's cold. And... It's really more of a power outage than a real cold streak.

I don't know if Posey dislikes Timmy but I do know that they always let Sanchez catch when Timmy pitches. Sanchez was working hard last night diving for dirt balls and keeping others from going to the backstop. I'm guessing that Bocce is thinking "Hey why let my MVP bet beat up all night. I'll put Sanchez in instead."

Kershaw is definitely a class guy, and a great example of how to be a pro athlete. I undertsand your hatred, however, and I take no offense. You have a few players I hate just because of their uniform. Their last names all start with the letter "P". ;)

Lincecum looked just fine against the Dodgers in his first start - damnit! :(
