Pirates win again, behind Francisco Liriano and his 13 K's last night while Pedro Alvarez hit HR #31, which leads the NL. It's been a rough stretch for Pirate fans recently, going 3-7 over the last ten and barely hanging on to the lead in the NL East.

The Cuban showdown in Miami was fun to watch last night. I saw some of it. The Dodgers are fun to watch.

Thank you Milwaukee for beating St. Louis Tuesday night.

I listened to the Pirates game on the radio, Burnett was spotted a two run lead before he even threw a pitch, but he was a little shaky in the first. He calmed down and did a fine job getting to the 8th. These west coast road trips are tough. I'm sure the Red Sox guys know what I'm talking about right now. :D

It was a USC/UCLA showdown in San Diego Wednesday, and the Trojan got the win, which means the Pirates lost. Nice pitching from the Padres that shut down the Pirates. I like the 2-1 games, so it was a good one to listen to. Then St. Louis puts together a nice win to shorten the Pirates lead back down to one game. Tough night all around for Pirate fans.

On to San Francisco where a Liriano/Lincecum match-up is on the horizon.

Easier said than done, my friend. The Sox found their hitting shoes in SF and have the best record in interleague play. I'm thinking that the Sox will take 2 out of 3 from the Dodgers. I'm looking forward to the games - two good teams and plenty of good story lines as well.

That said, I am very thankful that the Dodgers took all of that dead money off the Sox payroll last year and I am happy that the deal is working out for LA and that Crawford and Gonzales are playing well and that Carl is happy and feeling the love from the SoCal crowd. Neither player was at the heart of the Sox debacle from Sept '11 to Oct '12; but they were on the periphery of it (both were whiney here - Crawford about everything; Gonzales about having to play Sunday night games) Beckett on the other hand was the ringleader; I was elated to see him go - he is the poster boy for addition by subtraction.
