It's been a good 48 hours in Cleveland. Tribe wins 10 straight and lock up the playoff and Browns win a division game, .

For what it is worth, most folks here would like to see an ALDS with Cleveland and Boston. There is still plenty of respect for Francona from the fans here, if not the ownership. We'd also like to avoid Tampa's pitching if at all possible. ;)

Well, I hope we can help you there, lol.

I'm not a big baseball fan, at all, and am getting caught up in the fever that's going on here.

They seem like a good bunch of guys, yes even Chris Perez, so I wish them all the best.

Congratulations to both teams.

All the matchups are interesting in the Divisional Series and while I'm sure that there are favorites; at this point, any of these 8 teams could get hot and end up in the World Series.

In terms of payrolls - we have a little of everything

Big payroll
LA - 216 M; Boston - 155 M; Detroit - 149 M

Medium payroll
St. Louis - 117 M; Atlanta - 90 M

Small payroll
Pittsburgh - 67 M; Oakland - 62 M; Tampa Bay - 62 M

For the record - this is how I'm rooting; if I were betting, I'd substitute STL for PIT.

BOS over DET
PIT over ATL
BOS over PIT

Your dad was a fan of the NHL Rockies (current New Jersey Devils) too?

I ask simply because the Colorado Rockies have only been an MLB team since 1993. ;)
:o I meant to say that my dad has lived in Denver since the mid-70s. He's been a Rockies fan since they started.:D

Tigers strike out 16 A's to draw first blood on the road. Scherzer gets 11 of them, and pitches a 1 hitter thru 6. Benoit strikes out 4 in a row for the save. Verlander goes tomorrow.

I'd pitch Sanchez before Verlander but then again, I don't call the shots. IMO, Sanchez has been a stronger pitcher and is better on the road. Verlander is better at home and in a bigger park. He's given up some home runs in his last few starts. Sanchez rarely gives up a home run. Oakland leads the majors in home runs after the All Star Break.

:spit: My MLB team is the KC Royals! :spit:

If you are not from around here, you would not know the huge boost in popularity the Royals attained this season.
I think they were exciting and talented. Unfortunately the Tigers were tough, and the Indians were determined.

They'll need to keep the excitement and concentration going to compete.
It would be nice to have a real slugger, although Gordon was good.

Anywayz, so what was I jammin' to again...?

Good win for the Pirates. Liriano was far from having his best stuff today, but they kept fighting and got the win. (They said Liriano hasn't been feeling well. I might have flip-flopped him and had him pitch Game 4 instead, but at least they got the W.) Russell Martin has really been clutch for them.

Good win indeed. It's nice to see how well Liriano has turned his career around.
