My 2012 American Special Jazz and my 2010 American Special Precision are my two most playable basses. Just love them! I also have a Cirrus that play like butter but the two Fenders just work better for me. My most comfortable 5-string, and only 5-string now, is my Ibanez SR1205E. That thing is so easy to play.

My main go to basses are my Music Man Bongo's. They just feel very comfortable to play, are well balanced, sound great and are very versatile. All of the ones that I own are limited runs too so they get quite the looks.

My Gary Willis signature bass. It played very very nice when I bought it but it had a very small imperfection in the neck on the treble side that was causing it to buzz and that's only because my setup is so extreme.

I had the guys at Nordstrand take a look and resurface the neck and now it's absolutely perfect.

As much as I hate to admit it, my OLP MM-3 5 string plays better than my USA Fender Jazz Plus 5 string( unfortunately these jazz pluses havent necessarly been known for great necks either). Now it doesnt sound as good, but Im sure if I transplanted a decent active preamp into my OLP it would thunder like the fist of a God.

Sounds about right - I had a 2011 MIM P with flats and, aside from it feeling "too" light compared to my MIA deluxe jazz it was definitely more playable. But like you said it was not versatile enough to get the majority of my use.

Update: I eventually went for a Marusczczyk Jake (P bass copy) I got almost the same action and playability as my fender to be honest, but versatility is there (2 PUs with active/passive switchable preamp...) I guess its becoming my main bass, I am even thinking of selling my jazz bass...

My MIJ Fender E-series Precision. I can get the action lower on it without fret buzz than any of my others, with good intonation.
